i believe marriage is a institution of the church, and a civil union is one of the government. im okay wit extending marital rights to people with civil unions. and yes i agree that it should be called a civil union instead of a marriage.

once again i disagree with the homosexual lifestyle, i think its wrong, however legally i don't think there is any reason why they can't have a civil union. i don't think a ordained pastor should be marrying two gays or lesbians, its against christian ethics.

I am ok with this, no one is asking you to agree with something against your religion, and you are not trying to oppress anyone of the same rights you and I granted. While me may disagree on the ethics and morals of same sex marriage it is irrelavant if the persons affected get the rights, after all a rose by any other name still smells the same so who cares call it a civil union or a whatever.

you are correct, they have the same exact rights as the rest of us, with the exception of social security survivor benefits, spousal benefits, legal benefits such as the right to not testify against one's spouse, and about 1100 legal rights that you and I have that have been granted to us based on marital rights satatus that civil union status does not cover.

so what is your specific objection with gay marriage, you do realize that if you are tired of hearing about it the easiest way to make it go away is to legalize it.
