It's one thing to disagree with someone, it's another to wish them death, especially from a newspaper columnist.

Imagine if a Conservative did something similar - the MSM would be howling and demanding a resignation.

I'd take the otherside of the coin and say he's using satire and humor to cover a very ugly stand point that if you're on agreement with D. I drive an E30 for a DD. I have an E30 M3 as well. I understand them well and know how to search for what I need. These aren't new cars.
