Communist...
The National Education Association (NEA) is more than 3 million people—educators, students, activists, workers, parents, neighbors, friends—who believe in opportunity for all students and in the power of public education to transform lives and create a more just and inclusive society.
NEA site.
Their support for Saul Alinsky. I say support because of how that reads.

Dear god people......
Was there actually any mention of “celebrate” as in "hang up banners in your classroom and tell your kiddies Mao was a great man" as opposed to observe and be aware of? There are a lot of different types of things One can only argue intelligently within a subject one understands. You can't understand it if you don't study it. Studying involves reading people whose ideas you don't necessarily agree with. How shall we ever keep history from repeating itself, if we don't teach about things that have happened, regardless of how unpalatable the subject?Comment

Meh, who cares? It's a labor union not a government organization. If they want to praise Mao and wave the hammer and sickle flag around then they have the freedom to do that. Yeah it's horribly misguided but there are bigger fish to fry.Comment

First they came for the socialists,
And I did not speak out -
Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
And I did not speak out -
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
And I did not speak out -
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -
And there was no one left to speak for me.

^^^Exactly.
It's not exactly a huge leap to go from Saul Alinsky praising to Mao Praising.
It's recognition not a simple study of btw.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Comunisim has killed upwards of 130 million in direct actions of govt against its people. Why do we want to keep going down this path that leads to a similar road????
Mao is credited with 70+m
Stalin is Credited with 56m (IIRC)
and Pot with 2.5m (again IIRC)
tell me again why Mao is a favorite revolutionary, and political leader for some of those in our Govt, and why the NEA is having celebratory day for Mao again????Originally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

I don't see what's wrong with posting the start date of communism in China on a calendar. It's part of history. It's not glorification or celebration anymore than having Pearl Harbor marked on 12/7 "celebrates" Japan bombing the US, or 7/28 "celebrating" the beginning of WWI
Not to mention they're the 2nd most powerful nation on earth...kind of important to be aware of.
Can't you put down the partisanship, just for a minute, and look at something for what it actually is and not through some colored, judgmental lens?Last edited by CorvallisBMW; 08-17-2010, 06:01 PM.Comment

Then why did they remove it?
And why do they try to make Saul look like a National hero?Last edited by joshh; 08-17-2010, 06:57 PM.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
