Yeah, pretty ridiculous.

Maybe I'll pee on one, but I wouldn't want to burn one and face the undoubted wrath of the EPA on their new angle that religious texts produce pollution when burnt.Comment

In reference to the good pastor hosting the Quran burning.
true story here. A few years ago I was at my inlaws cooking Thanksgiving dinner, they are all very Catholic, there are 3 Nuns,2 Priest and my father in law is a deacon. Not only am I a Jew, but I am an Atheist. Well one of the priest is telling a story about this guy and he said "I dont remember his name, it was Feinberg or Feingold, I dont know but he was KIKE"
I sat there in shock, and almost dropped the carving knife as I was slicing the turkey. I noticed my mom had just walked in and heard this Priest refer to Jews as Kikes and I lost my shit. I went off on the priest calling him a piece of shit and hopes he burns in hell......
The point is you never know who, where or when you are going to hear religous vomit, I think these people that host the Quran burning are extremist and are inviting a much more dangerous extremist to retaliate upon them and their congregation. And honestly if some wack job extremist takes them out, I will not feel to sorry for them. It will be another posting on "the Darwin awards", I do not condone martyrdome, but I think it will happen, and I think they are inviting and taunting a psychopath to do something extreme. Not because he is a Muslim and is bound to do so, but because he is a psychopath that happens to be Muslim and thinks he is bound to do so.Brian JacobsComment

I pray 3x a day or more, Luke. You've met me. Did I weird you out?
By the same token, I completely agree that Religion is crazy. Some of the most religious people I know are people that claim to have no religion.
On topic Edit.
Totally bogus crap. Same with any Islamic Extremist. Where we should draw the line is that one side is burning a book and while disrespectful, it's only that. The other side of the aisle is threatening lives. Regardless of denomination, perspective, ethnicity, country or otherwise, that's by and far worse. It's ironic to me that the focus is more on burning a book instead of on those saying they'll take lives.Need a part? PM me.

I'm pretty sure 100% of these people are going to have to buy a copy just to burn it. Not like someone who already owns a copy is going to feel like burning it because a bunch of hillrods are blaming a terrorist attack on a religion.sigpic

Even as an atheist I can accept what these guys want to do. They arent harming anyone or violating anyone's rights. Its a symbolic gesture meant to bring solidarity to their own cause and offend others. Its not exactly something they invented. Every Muslim nation has had rallies burning a fake president, a flag bibles, whatever.
Nobody has a right to not be offended. Until they actually take it to extremism by declaring a crusade and harming innocent people its just bullshit.Im now E30less.

ok, so what exactly shows my weakness? If anyone in this room or any average Joe was to call me, or refer to my people as kikes I would not care, when a man that is a supposed man of god and runs a congregation and has influence over a large amount of people speaks like this, especially after what Catholics have done to Jews in the past and the Pope being an "ex" Nazi it is frightening. He is a extremist, maybe not a violent one but could inspire a violent extremist.
How do you not Judge a person that makes a racist statement?
I dont care what horrible things people have done in other countries, We are Americans and we are supposed to set a higher standard. We say we are better, it is high time we start to act better.
I dont care if people burn bibles or quran and put the flames out by pissing on them. It makes no matter to me, I think by making a big prodution out of it you are inviting retaliation, retaliation breeds retaliation. I really dont want a never ending war in my backyard.Brian JacobsComment

Wait, wait, wait, Brian... the Pope "could" inspire a violent extremist? Just like you could? Or have you already done so by mildly condoning the action of terrorists hell bent on killing innocent people?
Let's be clear here. Burning books? Bad taste. Killing innocent people? Unacceptable.
Saying you wouldn't mind seeing these people killed because they burned a book disgusts me. And it should turn your stomach for having said it. Sack up, recant your ill-thought out statement and let it drop.Need a part? PM me.

Guess all these good Christian souls forgot what their dear Lord and Savior said about these sorts of things.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:17-21).
But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. (Luke 6:27-28 )
“Do not resist an evildoer. But if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other also.”
Sometimes, I wish there actually was a Hell because people that act so hatefully would certainly be in the "Extra Torment" section.:firehop:Comment
