Actually yes we do, just no one does stories about it.

      Exactly. Because they get fired.

My company recently let an individual go for drinking on company property after hours and having "relations" in the car on lunch brakes.

Several months earlier an individual was fired for having marijuana contraband in his work vehicle.

Did it make news? No. Because these individuals where fired.

this. i hear this all the time from friends of mine.

my last job, i can recall more than 15 employees being fired, within one year, because of "relations" on work and drug contraband.

i know plenty of union workers, mostly my own coworkers, who have been caught with drugs and other things and have merely been slapped on the wrist for it.

I know from what I've been told from union members, Petro Chem something or another. One member was flagged the first time being on drugs. Went thru mandatory rehab. Then a couple years later self identified just before the tests went around again. Went to rehab again....A couple years later, self identified... You get the idea. He's now been there at least 10 years, union wouldn't fire him, the Company finally just moved him to a job in the warehouse so he's not dealing with the stuff that can burn or go boom. The Company HR Dept hired him, this example is one of the reasons why I feel HR Dept's are filled with morons.

It's not the HR dept. The Union will go to bat for those fuckers. A bus driver for Trimet here in Portland made an illegal turn and killed a couple people. Trimet started disciplinary action and the Union stepped in on her behalf.

Zero tolerance here at my work for any union mechanics caught with or under the effects of drugs. Same goes for being caught getting freaky with one another.

a few were walked out a year ago this week because they had to party a bit too early before our week and a half off for christmas

The thought of greasy, bearded, sweaty mechanics getting "freaky" with each other had me laugh. Thanks for the disturbing visual...
