I'm glad most people took it as the joke it was intended to be.

Last year, controversy erupted over the size of a Tea Party rally on the Mall. Supporters of the rally threw out numbers as high as 2 million; an unofficial estimate by local authorities ran closer to 70,000. To back up their estimate, Tea Party-friendly bloggers posted an aerial photo of a packed National Mall. The only trouble was that the picture had been taken years earlier -- before the 2004 construction of the National Museum of the American Indian, which is missing from the photo.

              I went.

I don't know what to say to you guys (Josh, sleeve). Just chill out. It was a good time. It was Halloween weekend, so people dressed like dickheads and many were there for simply for fun or just to add it to their social resume.

The crowd was decidedly young and leaned left, sure. They went not only for political reasons, and some were clearly not there for that at all. They went because Stewart and Colbert are smart and funny and entertaining. However, the message was overwhelmingly centrist, particularly Jon's keynote at the end.

Did any of you actually listen to they more serious part, the keynote? I'm with kronus, you guys seemed to have completely missed the point. You saw one thing you didn't agree with (which tends to happen when hundreds of thousands of people gather, regardless of reason) and dismissed the thing entirely.
