Wow, I almost didn't think it would ever happen.
This is only the beginning, for both Egypt and the rest of the Middle East. The protesters in Jordan, Syria and other nearby nations are going to feel even more empowered by the toppling of Mubarak.Leave a comment:

Now let's watch them elect uncorrupt politicans, a new pro-US president everyone will love, a healty economy and maybe a Halliburton factory.
I have my doubts.Leave a comment:

I don't care about right/left wing.
These people don't care about having the right to vote in a referendum about public toilets being built or something. I understand that they want a better life, but that isn't necessarily guarunteed by democracy.
I just think there are countries in this world that aren't able to handle democracy. Does Afghanistan and Iraq ring a bell? Being extremely corrupt now, democracy would open the door to even more corruption.
Eastern European countries never had radical terrorist "political parties", who's only program was to kill a certain ethnic group or fight neighboring countries. The most radical thing were samizdat books and underground newspapers etc.
I'm not solving this, just my 2c.
Actually, most countries were democratic or parlamentary republics before WWII/occupation/communism.
Just because the media say so? Naw, I'm going to believe my instinct here.They... are protesting for democracy.

Everyone in eastern Europe managed to figure out how democracy works around 1989 even though they never had any experience with it. It seems like the right wingers are looking for an excuse to hate this revolution.Leave a comment:

I'm not really sure how living under dictatorial rule for 30 years precludes you from being aware of the concept of "Democracy".
Especially if they supposedly all hate us because of our democracy.Leave a comment:

Actually that's a good point. They hardly even know what Democracy is. They are protesting the treatment they have been getting from their Government.Leave a comment:
