Wow, I almost didn't think it would ever happen.

This is only the beginning, for both Egypt and the rest of the Middle East. The protesters in Jordan, Syria and other nearby nations are going to feel even more empowered by the toppling of Mubarak.

Is Halliburton one of the pillars of democracy?

    I don't care about right/left wing.
These people don't care about having the right to vote in a referendum about public toilets being built or something. I understand that they want a better life, but that isn't necessarily guarunteed by democracy.
I just think there are countries in this world that aren't able to handle democracy. Does Afghanistan and Iraq ring a bell? Being extremely corrupt now, democracy would open the door to even more corruption.

Eastern European countries never had radical terrorist "political parties", who's only program was to kill a certain ethnic group or fight neighboring countries. The most radical thing were samizdat books and underground newspapers etc.

I'm not solving this, just my 2c.

Actually, most countries were democratic or parlamentary republics before WWII/occupation/communism.

Just because the media say so? Naw, I'm going to believe my instinct here.

Why do they call them "democratic protesters" when most of them aren't protesting for democracy?
