The country certainly has a ton of issues, both socioeconomic and religious in nature...but blanket statements like that just irk me. It's ethnocentric and disrespectful - not something I expected from you, given other posts of yours.

Do you really think Muslim extremism doesn't get enough attention?

    Ouch.
Allright, fine. I shouldn't have made blanket statements and generalisations about them based on a small group.

    Fuck.

As much as I sympathize with what Afghanistan has been in the middle of for the past few decades, I can't get down with that article. Saying that US presence is there "on the bidding of the Church and priests with a task for every soldier to commit desecration of the Glorious Quran" is just as foolish as saying that 9/11 happened because "they hated our freedom."

Even though the acts of both sides was seeded in something far deeper, both the burning of the Quran and the reaction did nothing to productively further the position of either group.
ya I know what you mean, as I said it was an interesting article by the author. I give 2 craps about all these wars to be honest.. I call it the rich mans war. The only people paying the price is the innocent and the poor. The people I feel sorry for is the U.S soldiers who are forced to fight and the innocent afghans who die. :(

Haha no worries - I should've tossed an emoticon in or something with that last one - I think your down under, non-US input is refreshing here. Without intending to sound like a condescending asshole, I'm glad you didn't just pick a fight and run with it. It's not every day (especially in this place) that someone admits a mistake.

The fact is that all of these ignorant religious idiots who have somehow become completely disconnected from the doctrine of their spiritual literature, and who also lack the ability to think logically and for themselves, CREATE situations in which innocent people lose their lives for no reason.

The biggest issue I see from the post from Sonnyqm3 is that the author and his associates are under the impression that our "Pastors" carry the same clout as their ayatollah's, caliph's, imam's, and mullah's.

They don't understand the separation of Church and State, because to them, it's one and the same. You can't hold a society to the actions of members of it's partial collective.

It's obvious when you see the quote

They wanted to prove that, at least, they are one voice against the opponents of Islam and Muslims and against the American troops stationed in the country and the crimes of Terry Jones, the pastor of the State of Florida who burnt tens of copies of the Holy Quran, ostensibly in reaction to the 9/11 Event.
It's not "Pastor FROM the State of Florida", but "Pastor OF the State of Florida", as if possessive, not residing. He is not a proxy of the state, nor does he have any rights in the state, but they act as if he is the Governor, and head of the National Guard. .

It certainly does, but I feel that people believe Muslim extremism is created/exploited by the media. Too many people brush it off thinking it is no big deal, which isn't the case.

All those Muslim extremists really want is peace after all. We should allow them to bring in Sheria law and let them spread their "religion" and I'm sure peace will quickly follow.....LMFAO.

You'll find me to be pretty anti-religion in general, but I disagree with you here. What do you think we should do? Give it more press? Freak out when people want to build Mosques? If that doesn't teach'em, we could always invade a few more countries.

For the lack of a better word, yes. I would need to move this to PM.
