where were they saying anything negative about jesus?

did they have giant placards saying "JESUS IS A DUMB BITCH" or some shit? cause i didnt see any....

    this is making me lol.

i guess i just dont see anything wrong with a hunky jesus contest. im sure there has been hunky thor/hercules/zeus or sexy aphrodite/artemis/someothergoddessicantthinkofrightnow and im pretty sure this is your first thread about this....

so im pretty sure your panties are bunched up because you're christian. not because this actually offends your morals on a larger scale. im gonna bet (and now im sure you'll deny) that you have no problem with a hunky zeus contest. be a man. admit it. hunky zeus contests are ok in your book.

I imagine the reason they had their party on easter is because as a general group, Christians are the second biggest pain in the ass to the US gay community. Not to mention that gay people are kind of known for finding any excuse to party.
Ah, but I don't go out of my way to say anything negative about Allah or Zues. THAT'S my point.

If it wasn't meant or intended to "offend" anyone then why not just have a homosexual hunk contest? Why label it "hunky Jesus contest" on Easter Sunday? I think your view point might be a little off. I honest to God could care less but, that's not the debate. I think people that aim to offend anyone else because their lives are miserable and small is wrong. Trying to drag someone else's worldview through the mud, for what? It's reactionary at best and far from harmless or "for a good time". The fact is, there's no "sides" to this.

It goes the same as asking the question, "Why does it offend a non-believer that believer's feel they are going to hell for their unbelief?" Unless there's a micro scope small portion of themselves that feels some doubt about their "after life", lack there of or whatever, there's no reason to be offended by it. Right?

That's your premise, I figure I would throw it back out there.

    that said...

did they invite a whole bunch of christians to go view this? did they say COME ON OVER FOR A NICE TRADITIONAL CHRISTIAN EASTER CELEBRATION and then show them this?

    no. they didnt.

they were having a good old time doing whatever they wanted. they werent in anyone's face about it. there purpose was not to offend people. it was too have a good time.

there is a difference between picketing a church with vulgar slogans and dress. and going to a GAY FUCKING FESTIVAL where they do some GAY SHIT.

i mean... when it comes down to it. the whole gay lifestyle is "sacrilege" to the christian churches. but guess what? the christian churches do not rule the world. and if they want to have a hunky jesus contest, that is in their right.

i just dont know why everyone is so upset about a GAY FESTIVAL WITH SOME GAY SHIT. they did not go do this in front of a church. they did not do this with the intend to offend.

it's like going to your neighbors house and then getting offended when he pisses in his kitchen sink. it's his fucking house. offended by it? whatever. walk right out. he didnt come to your house and piss in your sink.

i think people cannot understand this really important distinction.

It's impossible to distinguish between outside influences such as religion and whether people are inherently bad. But "because *insert higher power here* said so" is pretty powerful, particularly if you don't believe in that higher power.
No, no, Bill. I don't want you to take what I said as defensive or even being offensive. I actually really, genuinely enjoy debating, talking and over all disagreeing or agreeing with you ;)

You sir, can actually carry on a fairly respectable (in most cases ;) ) conversation.

I apologize, I misunderstood, I think the representatives of both of those communities do enough for them. And yes, I have gotten to the point where I just about despise everything.

In my mind, using the un-disprovability of an afterlife to fear people into doing shit is all one in the same.
