      False equivalence much?

The "fringe" may pull stints like this because they want attention. Isn't it good they don't get it? Besides...the fringe should only get attention when it's a threat, or dangerous. This was just a silly, exaggerated display. Wake me up when "the gays" do something really evil.

You're right, I shouldn't have lumped them in with terrosists. The westboro comparison stands though. And they get plenty of coverage.

Actually, I did not equate the gay display with terrorists - I called them all fringe elements of thier respective groups. Your reading comprehension is as bad as my memory ;-)

Said it before and I'll say it again, it's not "Religion" (read: Faith) that's the issue. It's the people that in general are "bad". They would use religion, politics, people, faith, cars, games, sports, athletics... etc, for their own ends. As a sounding board to justify their own miserable little lives, etc... glossing over all of "religion" (again, read: Faith) with a big bad brand of evil is just as bad as the Westboro tards standing outside a dead young man's funeral spouting about God hating "fags".

And for clarification, yes, I just compared the Westboro idiots to generalizations to the "evils of all religion as it's nearly one in the same.

In my mind, using the un-disprovability of an afterlife to fear people into doing shit is all one in the same.

Man, I had a smiley face and everything. I was just pointing out that we have different ideas as to what the problem is. Clearly religion is slightly more nuanced than "it's bad".

I think it's far too ingrained in people's lives and worldviews for its influence to be quantifiable. It's impossible to distinguish between outside influences such as religion and whether people are inherently bad. But "because *insert higher power here* said so" is pretty powerful, particularly if you don't believe in that higher power.

I apologize, I misunderstood, I think the representatives of both of those communities do enough for them. And yes, I have gotten to the point where I just about despise everything.

I actually appreciate most of your posts, but in this, you're ignorant. They're having a contest on easter Sunday (I'm aware easters origin is pagan) when most christians celebrate the ressurection of Christ, and they're portraying him in the most vulgar and hideous manners possible, that right there is sacrilege, not to mention its a contest hosted by homosexuals, double whammy. So, learn some shit.
