you know me herbivor, a bleeding liberal.
but im definitely siding with sleeve on this one. i've just seen too much.
and im not talking about the petty shit cops do all day long, like flick their lights on to get through a redlight. completely interrupting traffic. i've even seen a cop drive onto the grass to get to the intersection, turn the lights on, cross, lights off. rofl. that stuff is minor, but it is indicative of a larger problem.
a friend of mine bought an e34 6 months ago. he had been t-boned in an intersection and his jeep totalled. he had it titled and licensed at the dmv and the next day was out and about. he got pulled over and the cops said his license plate wasnt in the system. he said, "hey, i just registered the car, maybe it takes a bit to show up." cops said no, its immediate. he said, "well i have all the paperwork, receipts, etc, right here." (6 cruisers had showed up at this point.) cops said they are forgeries. they said all this lead them to suspect the car was a drug mule. he said no its not! they impounded the car. a few days later they said, "ok, everything check outs you can have your car back."
"oh and btw, you owe the towing company $250."
or...
the drunk off duty cop that hit my brother, his gf, and my sister in an unmarked car. t-boned them as they were making a left hand turn. (they had a light to do so.) my brother hops out and yells at the guy wtf is he doing running a red light. he speeds off and hits someone 2 intersections later. totalling his car this time. my brother at first was relieved, because as soon as that guy sped off another guy ran up to him and said he is a detective and saw the whole thing. he can testify and make sure everything is ok. then he finds out the other guy is a cop and his mouth is suddenly mute.
what happens to the drunk driving cop? nothing.
