stranger things have happened. Germans and the Britts entered into a trade agreement though the swiss, during WWI for Optical Glass for Rubber. Germans need rubber and brits the glass. It ultimately never went though the germans backed out on giving the brit marksmen good glass.

Ummm when china finally decides that all is lost with the US debt the hold they will have nothing really to lose by attacking the USA. China is very very dangerous and couple that with the Roooooskies. Shit could get really fucking ugly, we will be longing for the days of dealing with a few extremist Muslims

^ also the US sold copper and other metal to the germans throughout the 30s and up until the US's entrance into WWII. What's your point?

We were not active parties to the war at that time. My example was at the height of the war and the 2 countries were in direct conflict with each other, and entered into an agreement to provide war materials to each other.

Your example the USA was a neutral party selling to both sides, until 12/7/41.

Not acording to the article this is why they may use it. they believe that a EMP is well below the nuclear response threshold

This makes sense. If you recall the Chinese have proven to have the capability to bring down satellites. Being able to do that would blind our intelligence assets from seeing if an invasion fleet sailed from the PRC. And an EMP weapon knocking out a Carrier and it's battlegroup, would help ensure the establishment of a beach head on Taiwan.

I'll look into it, but I don't if the electrical systems on ships take into account EMP devices.

You can't plan/prepare for every contigency.

This sounds like the plot of the movie Golden Eye 007.

"Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed."

yeah they took a ballistic missile to knock a sat outta the sky form a land based Launch pad.

A month latter we lob a modded cruise missile off the deck of a destroyer sitting in the middle of the south Pacific and knock one of our own down.

Again the largest point to me posting this was a threat to our infrastructure here at home, and china making a play that way. I really would think that our battle fleets critical systems, would be hardened against EMP's. Since we have been testing nukes and their effects on hard wear for 60 years, and the EMP is a big by product of a nuke detonation.

How is this at all a "play" towards taking out american infrastructure? The Chinese are simply doing what the west has been doing for decades, should they simply sit back and rely on dated military techniques to protect themselves while the rest of the superpowers continuously build ever more devastating and accurate weaponry?

All of this is according to an intelligent report, and we all know those are accurate right? Kind of like the intelligence that initiated the most recent gulf war. Sorry if I don't buy into your fear mongering.
