Loans or not, where does the initial payout come from? The fed gv't (ie perkins). Money borrowed is still money paid out, at least until remittance. Honestly, should finaid be thrown around I believe we will see a spike in defaults on student loans in the years that follow.

As it turns out, you can already attend US public colleges as a foreign student under scholarship. One of my good friends from school last year was here on visa from mexico city. As he tells it, he was receiving money from our system.

okay, US citizens receive grants, scholarships, whatever... a lot of them i see, smoke pot, get drunk, and waste money on these things. So why not give it to someone who's familiar with poverty, and gives higher value to education and money than those people who neglect them.

Yes, legally...and that's why it doesnt bother me. He went through a ton of paperwork and red tape to be here for one school year.

I will graduate with $11k in debt. I'm getting out lucky. Tuition is going up and real finaid is going down. The FA office treats loans the same as scholarships, which is part of the problem.

But since they are usually getting paid cash, or 1099'd, they aren't paying Fed or State income tax, the medicare tax or the SSN tax.

Those right there eat up nearly 1/3 of my check. And then I pay my sales tax, property tax on my house, excise tax on vehicles, etc et cetc.

So don't give me some shit like the sales tax is responsible for most of the revenue generation.

Complete contradiction. You generalize college students in the same manner you criticize the classification of illegal immigrants. You want generalization? Turn on the news in LA. Tell me how many hispanics are apprehended for homicide, larceny, domestic dispute, gang violence...and what percentage are illegal. It's the elephant no one wants to address.

If an area's populace of prodominitely of one ethnic background, wouldn't most of the crime, violence, larceny, domestic disputes, gang violence, etc... stem from that group? Would not also the same go for the acts of goodness, justice, etc... also stem from that ethnic group?

all i gotta say is this is bad. especially for anyone living in a border state, we know this is bad. how is this not the same principle as hiring an illegal? no i have no problem with legal immigrants, it's the ones who skate by and cheat the system. do it right or don't do it at all.
