    Absolutely shameful.....

    TLDR:

Two guys pull over and save a woman from a wrecked, burning vehicle. They have filed a lawsuit against her for their injuries from saving her life.

    I'm speechless.

no one put a gun to their heads to save her. Deal with it, they went in there after her knowing the fucking car is on fire, its natural human instinct to avoid fire.

            they can't possibly win this

I'm sick of this attitude of you don't have to be responsible for what you do. it was completely their decision.

He says his lungs were so badly damaged from the heavy smoke and fire that day that he now can’t carry a laundry basket up the three flights of stairs in his Marion home.
Wish I had money for a home large enough to have three flights of stairs to carry my laundry up....

                  no shit..

edit: actually, if you read the article it makes more sense. she was trying to kill herself. and there's precedent for suing somebody because they were reckless or intentionally caused danger.

That is what I thought it was about at first.

I actually don't see this as shameful. What is shameful are the people who get their lives saved and then sue the rescuers. These guys saved her life, no doubt about that. If they had left her to burn on a rural road like that its likely nobody else would have gotten there in time. They sustained injuries cleaning up a mess she made. Not only that but it might have been intentional (there was a blurb about her telling authorities she had a fight and may have wanted to end it all).

Both are suing for 25k, that isn't shit. You aren't retiring in Malta on 25k, that could be eaten up in hospital bills easily. Her insurance wouldn't have covered this likely (or that might be what the suit is about in the first place) and the chick was driving a stupid overpriced fake hummer with the license place "spoiled." Sounds like she owes them their medical bills.

If you are dying on the sidewalk and a doctor saves your life without your permission he has the right to bill you for his services. Same premise here I guess.

And? If she was trying to kill herself, why did she cry for help?

They chose to put themselves in danger.

                          End of story.

I'm going to write up a waiver if I get rescued/rescue someone. It will state in writing that I owe them nothing and they cannot sue me for their choice to rescue me/my choice to rescue them, unless they refuse to be rescued, at which point I will have them sign my other form stating that they refused rescue, so that I cannot be sued by family for not rescuing them. I will, at this point, think of any loopholes, have a discussion with my lawyer, and draft up a formal document which I shall keep on my person at all times, should such a case arise.

                              Documentation.
