China started sea trials of refurbished Russian Carrier

No need for concern of their ambitions of projection of power. That combined with recent launches of Submarines and UAV/Stealth technology.

China has been living in a enclosed society for quite some time. They are now feeling oats out. Our nation has had a outward posture since the Spanish-American war.

I bet they read R3V, saw what we're doing to 25 yo cars and thought "Awesome, hey Wong, let's refurb that carrier we bought for scrap metal!"

I wonder what they will fly off it? Russians flew Mig29s, so maybe their J10 or the under-development J15?

Clean, nice stance, could use less forward rake.

I think it looked much more menacing and ominous before the refurb. They shouldnt have painted the hull. lol

It's for jump jets... Not many other countries use steam catapults like we do.

Jump jets? Doubt it, unless China is developing one from scratch which doesn't make sense, as aircraft can take off from it normally without the need for jump jet assistance.

I hope they do something different with it this time. Maybe an s52 swap converted back to obd1. That would be different

Doesn't have an angled deck, means you can't launch and recover simultaneously and seriously hampers your deck flexibility.
