It has three launching positions originally with the two front ones shown in the article looking to be out of the way enough to land an aircraft at the same time as launching one or two.

Oh sooooo scary, the Chinese have ancient technology ships from our former nemesis......SOOOOO SCARY!

All the Chinese did was polish a turd. Look how great there high speed rail did, it last 4 hours before killing someone. This thing is probably painted in lead based paint.

Admiral Flota Sovetskovo Soyuza Kuznetsov (Russian: Адмирал флота Советского Союза Кузнецов "Fleet Admiral of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov"), originally named Riga, renamed Leonid Brezhnev then Tbilisi[2]) is an aircraft cruiser (heavy aircraft carrying missile cruiser (TAVKR) in Russian classification) serving as the flagship of the Russian Navy. She was originally commissioned in the Soviet Navy, and was intended to be the lead ship of her class, but the only other ship of her class, Varyag, was never commissioned and was sold to the People's Republic of China by Ukraine under the condition she would never be refitted for combat.[3][not in citation given] Kuznetsov was named after the Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Nikolai Gerasimovich Kuznetsov.

That is interesting that it was not to be refitted. IDK china seems to be doing lost of stuff lately that is rasing an eyebrow or two.

for once we agree, A clapped out and retrofitted Russian Carrier is nothing to be worried about. The Anti Carrier Specific ICBM is more worrisome, and the fact they are buying a bunch of SU-33's to stock the carriers with the 5th gen fighter they are developing the j-20

So you guys aren't worried that China can project power now because we can project more? Yeah it isn't a fleet carrier, but it still gives China a level of power projection they didn't have before and, wait I don't know why this is even a problem because China is pacifist and never does anything bad. That is only half sarcastic too.

No China is grandstanding and trying step into the big boy land on a global military scale nothing to worry about. The are a huge power regionally, but they know as well as anyone, if they try anything at all even the slightest outta line with that thing (Taiwan or Japan) we (allies/NATO/UN) will turn it into a artificial reef somewhere so the coral will have something to grow on.

Really you dont think we arent going to have a SeaWolf or Virgina Class Fast attack sub or 2 shadowing and tailing that thing at all times ???? Maybe even some satellite tracking

What raises an eyebrow to me is that this is big news. For some reason I had just assumed that they were always a threat, and already have a capable navy, and under no circumstances should we fuck with them because the the population they could unload on us might as well be unlimited.

I can admit that I don't know the size of China's military very well, but if China having carriers makes anyone feel smaller in the pants then that person may have had the wrong attitude to begin with. They fucking own us. Was anyone here under the impression we could muscle them around?

And you guys of all people should know that it takes less than 80 planes to blow something up, including a larger carrier. It's obviously at a disadvantage in a direct standoff with one of ours but still a serious situation.
