CHAPTER SEVEN
"IN 1983, I DECIDED to become a community organizer.
There wasn’t much detail to the idea; I didn’t know anyone making a living that way. When classmates in college asked me just what it was that a community organizer did, I couldn’t answer them directly. Instead, I’d pronounce on the need for change. Change in the White House, where Reagan and his minions were carrying on their dirty deeds. Change in the Congress, compliant and corrupt. Change in the mood of the country, manic and self-absorbed. Change won’t come from the top, I would say. Change will come from a mobilized grass roots. That’s what I’ll do, I’ll organize black folks. At the grass roots. For change."
Using the full quote I think helps put it in context. Keep in mind that this was in 1983, long before Reagan managed to turn around the economy. Also keep in mind that Obama was 22 at the time. And he was half-black. I think you could have substituted "Reagan" with the "white guy in office". That's not to say that I think he was being racist as in he wanted to keep the white man down; he wanted equality and a level playing field. The civil rights movement was still a fresh memory for most and I can't really fault him/them for harboring a few feelings of angst."I think we consider too much the good luck of the early bird and not enough the bad luck of the early worm."

Ahhh but too bad his ideas of hope and change will bankrupt this country, and his admin is even more corrupt and disgusting than nearly any and all in history other than maybe that of Grant (corrupt) Wilson (disgusting).
It has nothing to do with that white guy in office, it has to do with his socialist up bringing and the fact that most of his mentors were leftist radicals or out and out commies. The full quote does nothing but reinforce that fact.Originally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

You mean in the non-religious sense, yes? I think it is too early to tell if he will be revered as a great redeemer. Even I don't just admire the man blindly. On the same token, I also think it's premature to be hating him and emphatically stating that his policies will lead us to ruins. The more I hear it I wonder if people really think that, or if they hope for it. It's sickening really.
And now back to your regularly scheduled fear mongering."I think we consider too much the good luck of the early bird and not enough the bad luck of the early worm."

its called FDR and the great depression
and obama is making the same mistakes FDR made, which turned a modest economic recovery into a great depression

So we can both either judge him and say he has done bad or good or neither can, you can't have it both ways, even though you want it that way.
How was politicians, including obama, saying if we don't raise the debt ceiling by August 2 not fear mongering?
He said this about the debt ceiling back in 2006

What gets me is that everyone expects the economy to be completely repaired in just a few years. Nobody has any patience these days. As I mentioned earlier, not even Reagan could turn around the economy in his time in less than 3 years. Since this is a car forum, maybe I'll try putting this in terms we can all understand. The economy is not a 1990 M3 Sport Evo that handles like its on rails. "Driving" an economy is more like driving a 1947 Ford pickup with bad shocks, bald tires, in dense fog, in the middle of the night. It doesn't respond quickly, you've got to plan your moves well ahead, and even then there is a chance of going in the ditch."I think we consider too much the good luck of the early bird and not enough the bad luck of the early worm."

You think we dont understand what is going on??? You think you have to dumb it down to car terms for us to "get it"???
We get it. Like has been posted a many many times and just a few posts higher. Some of us see the parallel's to other progressive administrations, and the results that came from those. The writing is on the walls even if you chose to ignore it, its not going to change the outcome and what this POTUS and the bulk of the rest of them for the last 100 years have been working towards.Originally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.
