Welcome to theory vs practical application. Failure from both is all we're getting.

He is making it a Republican vs Democrat thing if you haven't noticed. And being very one sided about it.

And well done on quoting him while he's sighting a very Progressive (Krugman) person. Your failure is not being able to see this guy was never really a Republican. He just happened to work for them.
And what you've never loved something so much that it hurt to see it change for the worse?

would of it been better if he also wrote just as long of a piece bashing the democrats? Why is it so shitty for some one to call it like it is? If he was a democrat all his life and experienced the same thing and wrote the same thing about democrats, this would be just as interesting of a piece. The only difference would be your reaction to this.

i apologize, I misinterpreted what you were saying :)

And joshh I don't think many people REALIZE to what extent business and government are a swinging door.

Yeah, Democrats do exactly the same shit but that still doesn't take away with most of what this guy is saying. I guess he'll have to go to the fountain of youth so he can redo his political affiliation for another life time.

Sorry man but I'm not going to get further sucked into this pointless argument. You win?

I thought the article was good, and seems to make some very good points etc. Can even see parallels to this in Canada.

Fucking politicians. Oh fuuuck, I'm such a pawn =( .
this is truth. I REALLY am not a conspiracy nut, but one senses a shift toward something somewhat sinister in the western nations in the last few years

also as a note and as an outsider, I would say that I see a horrible erosion of what I see as core values in your left of center party as well (this is also echoed in the north)

Josh, I do not think that because this article is a lashing of the modern Republican party in the views of a life long member, an insider if you will, means that he HAS to do the same of the Democrats...He had no personal experience as a member of the Dem's for 30 YEARS man. his expertice is in HIS OWN PARTY.

this is someone who obviously embraced the GOP for what they were, and admonishes them for what they have become.

things don't have to be "fair" in the sense of him saying bad things about the GOP, so now he has to say equal amounts of bad things about dems or it isn't fair... like really?

segments your republican party makes me absoulutly sick, I think you guys are fucked there. also coincidentally, I think segments of your democratic party make me taste bile as well, not because "I have to" to be ''fair'' but because there is shit in both camps.

as of our last election we have essentially slipped into a 2 party system, and I think that we are as poorly off as the US is at this point. honestly I do not see a satisfying leadership option in any NA country at this point.

to the point though, this is an article written by a lifelong member of one party, about one party, not comparing which party is worse (like one is worse, lol)

But both parties are not rotten in quite the same way. The Democrats
have their share of machine politicians, careerists, corporate bagmen,
egomaniacs and kooks. Nothing, however, quite matches the modern GOP.

No he is comparing. And that is exactly why he discredits himself. So he does or doesn't know?

Yes of course because like I have already said, both parties are EQUALLY as bad...therefore I have my head in the sand because I don't agree that the republicans are worse. Makes perfect sense....

I don't need someone to tell me what's wrong with the Republican party.
