What I put in the first reply.

This is no different than if I refuse to buy health insurance, fall down a set of stairs, and now I'm stuck with the huge medical bill.

And those angry with the fire dept, at least around here, even though your property/sales taxes help with the fire dept.............................................. ......they STILL CHARGE YOU MORE if they are actually called out to a fire at your house. Homeowners insurance policies in the state of OK even allow up to $500 to pay the fee.

So $500 ON TOP of the $1400ish I pay a year in property taxes.........and these people couldn't handle less than $2 a week?

Eliminate your emotional response, and you'll see it's completely the homeowners fault.

It's not like it was a surprise....it was a choice, and they chose poorly.

And if they allowed retroactive collection, few would ever pay it in advance, knowing it could be indefinitely deferred.

Sorry, but to me this fails under the heading of personal accountability.
