I was interested more just to see what rate other people generally around my age and who share my interests are taxed at. I know my case is really abnormal but it's still interesting data to see presented by others in different situation and in other parts of the country.

Understood but for Herbie, that's not what it was about.

Ah, ok, well it's since herbie seems to be wondering it's pretty simple really. As far as politics go it makes little difference who is in office, some of us have the resources available to pay very highly qualified teams of attorneys, accountants, financial advisers, and bankers to ensure that we pay as little tax as possible. They are paid to find and help us take advantage of every loophole, deduction, qualifying dividend, ect. that is legally available to us. This method isn't really feasible if your tax liabilities are under $20k b/c of the extreme costs involved, but if your tax liability is north of $100k yearly then spending the cash for this type of service is just common sense.

Actually it was. I have no hidden agenda to try and prove a point that we pay too little or too much in taxes. I was just curious. I do know some people that bitch about taxes and end up having an effective rate under 5% or in some cases 0%, but I wasn't trying to make it a point.
BTW joshh, what was your effective rate?

That's because I have no idea what your fair share is because I have no idea how much you make. You're the winner with the highest percentage so far though. Congratulations and thankyou for your contributions to this wonderful country.
