Are new englanders really liberal aholes?

The guy at work is from Minnesota and he says we're a bunch of liberal assholes in N.E. especially Massachusetts. Is this the general consensus of the people in the rest of the country?

I know people from Central mass (outside of worcester) are a bunch of nigga haters. We stay away from central Massachusetts in area outside urban Worcester.

I think the country's view of Mass, and new england in general is totally liberal. The gay polititians, and the gay marriage is the cause of that.

But its not true. Because to me, having grown up in Mass and RI for 25 years, its pretty much split down the middle- Then you cross the border to new hampshire and its obviously a little more right..

tell him not to beleive eveything he see's on tv.

That always happens when "Yanks" are in a rural area.

They get grouped into the "Kennedy" status.

Like ^^ he said, go ahead and believe everything you see on TV, people watch so much of it, they forget to look at real life - didn't you know everyone from P-Town or SanFran are homosexual, and all Southerners are tooth-less?

Liberal is an insult to your country in some places and conservative is in others.

It's amazing what happens when you move about the country and see how people treat each-other. Especially when there's someone out of place. Peer/locale-pressure is a bitch.

Possibly because we have parties who's name are Liberals and Conservatives, but I've never felt insulted or had someone attempt to insult me by calling me or my views liberal.

It's not he name-calling "liberal" or "conservative" it's the suffix that's added in the OP. Just because a person is one or the other, doesn't mean the suffix of either should be applied.

It's amazing when politics, religion, hell, even a favorite sports team haven't been brought up in a friendship/relationship/association until later in the endeavor, how the view of one's persona may change in the eye of the beholder if they don't match as expected.

As it has been said in the past: "Ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise."

                Generalizations are for the foolish.

Yea I grew up there until I was 25 and never noticed us being either liberal or conservative. Its just what I was used too. To me I think Massachusetts is balanced.

                    It is.

I was born in B-town 'burbs and grew up on the mainland-side of the Cape when younger. Out of the 14 aunts/uncles and the rest of the extended family, most of them still live there.

It's not much different than when moving to the South, how people thought of "Yankee" as a bad word lol.

Take it with a grain of salt.

                    Bigots are everywhere.

How could you leave out the reddest state in the country? All 77 counties went to McCain in the '08 Election. YAY!

It's really interesting because OK was a notoriously BLUE state up until the mid-60s.

OK must have been grouped in the Southern Democrats then. In the 70s they finally stopped lying to themselves and switched to Republican haha.
