You guys have some extreme opinions. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 99% of the reasons that adults require healthcare are a result of personal choice. The genetic piece of it is very small compared to accidents, cv issues, STDs, pregnancy, obesity and other lifestyle related complications like drug use or even sports injuries. So, where exactly do you draw the line? Should I have to pay more if I get t-boned by a drunk driver because I know the risks of driving? -
Specially when whoever it is that's in SCOTUS/Congress at the time can jam whatever they want in wherever they want and call it Constitutional.
The more you fuck with the document the less it holds in value and the less meaning it carries. If you can change it like we have, what value does it hold to us. Pretty much nothing.
And thus you have the Progressive who has been fighting to change the Constitution into what it was never meant to be.Leave a comment:

hey mrsleeve, question for ya....
when was the last time you went to europe and experienced their healthcare system first hand? i know you dont like to let others (like those mean buggers the WHO) tell you what to think, so im sure you went to germany, and the netherlands, and england, and scandinavia, and found their healthcare far inferior to ours. and im sure you've been to bumfuck nowhere, middle america and veritably ejaculated at the sight of their magnificent health care options.
right?Leave a comment:

yes cale I will put all my eggs in the WHO telling me things. Thats like listening to the UN about climate change, or gun control.
Ours system has flaws yes, but with out it everyone in the world would have a much lower standard of care/survivability rate for many things that are now so common that 25-30 years ago was a 50/50 shot at best.Leave a comment:

Many things were once considered "unconstitutional". It's not a divinely infallable document. That's why we've had to amend it 27 times. We even had one amendment which undid a previous amendment. True story.Leave a comment:

At what cost? There's a reason when the last ranking of world health systems by the World Health Organization took place, the US ranked 37th.
Since when is the system that produces the lions share of Medical advancements from pharma, to Prostheses and procedures BROKEN. Seems like its working just fine too me, (someone has to pay for it and we know the "other system" has trouble with that) after all with out this system we would have stalled out at about 1975 levels of care. yeah that sounds like a great idea.
First off, care to back this up? Secondly, how is our defense not working? We're involved in treaties and alliances for a reason. Quite justifying your exorbitant defense budgets when threats rarely come knocking on your door. You seem to be trying to do the same with my country, and it's a pathetic attempt.Leave a comment:

You're totally right, if it weren't for you guys the world would go to shit and China would invade everywhere for their resources. It's only a matter of time before they invade the middle east for the oil too....right? I mean you're not south of them so they're in grave danger.
God bless 'merica.
What's funny about that comment is people like you were making fun of people like me in the 30's about Germany.
Canada's defense has everything to do with their healthcare costs. Because if they had to spend much more on defense they'd be up the creek with their healthcare. They have the US to thank that they don't have to spend as much on defense.
America is heading Canada's way and it will be failure on the present course.Last edited by joshh; 05-24-2012, 03:17 PM.Leave a comment:

fixed, as there is no such thing as free. you pay everyday you pay higher taxes than usWhat wasteland are you referring too?

BTW no healthcare system will work 100%, the difference is if I get a tumor, they will fix me and I WILL spend the rest of my life paying for it(all be it may take a bit longer), where as you can either rot away and die painfully or have it fixed quicker but spend the rest of your miserable life paying it back. Oh or the 3rd option, your insurance says no, so your fucked, or your insurance covers it but they never cover anything afterwords (medicine, check-ups...) because now your "too high risk".Leave a comment:

side bar comment. (after all its all those resources that pay for the free heath care in Americas hat)

Never said the system is perfect, nor that it does not need some tweeking, but as I have said time and time again, what had to be "passed so we can find out what is in it" is more disastrous than leaving it aloneLast edited by mrsleeve; 05-24-2012, 02:59 PM.Leave a comment:

So fucking what?
This has to do with America's broken healthcare system how?
Or the undeniable fact that we already pay for everyone, so why not make preventative care available and be able to cut current spending in the neighborhood of 33% (was that the number Ken?)Leave a comment:

Cale Buddy; Eskimo land would be at major risk of invasion due to your resource wealth, Energy, Uranium, Rare earths, Gold, ect... It will not happen cuz of the residents to the south.
Just like what China did in the 50's with N korea. Even you know this.Leave a comment:

Right, that's why for about the past half-century your own military has been spending millions developing and maintaining radar sites in OUR Arctic, maintaining fuel depots, patrols as well as personnel training to be competent in defense and offense in northern environments....once again, OUR northern environments.
You seem to be very naive as to how the rest of the world operates. Rather evident with your confusion that my disagreement with your opinion somehow makes me ignorant to a particular subject. Feel free to come down off that high horse any time you'd like champ, you're gonna get hurt.
We spend an adequate amount. We're a small nation population wise, of course we're not going to able to hold off an invasion by one of the worlds bigger military's. Fortunately we are at very little threat of such a thing happening, as is your own country. Should we say screw the sick, we need more bombs and methods of delivery in case a currently unknown aggressor may decide to come start shit? Very reasonable approach to running a country, you should run for president. I'll pass however! I like knowing that if I ever do loose my health I'll still be covered whether or not I fall on hard times, loose my job or am suddenly discovered to have a "pre-existing condition" my insurer was unaware of. Sounds like you guys have it all figured out down there.
Thanks for supporting my argument. If you guys could defend your own country, we wouldn't be covering your asses. Your welcome.
We have it figured out? Heading toward your broken system is not having it all figured out.
I'm sure you like that as do many Americans now days...free shit at the expense of mostly others.Leave a comment:
