I want to own a gun, not because its cool or that i want to carry it with me and hold it side ways when i pull out. No, I just had a baby and also just purchased a home, i want to have a gun to keep in my house just in case someone tries to get cute. Thats all.

My first comment on this thread wasnt to be the hero or be a tough guy, although i do daydream about it. Actually, if i did pack a gun and was at that movie theater my first reaction would be to protect who im with. And if the opportunity presented itself i would only hope to have the courage, and the aim, to blast that mofo!

And lastly, the media needs to stop focusing/glorifying these nut jobs and cover more about Ichiro becoming a Yankee!!

I gotta say I think you are wrong there. Barking dog is good, because it makes the thief/invader's presence known. But if someone is in the house and you pump that shotgun, all you did was alert the thief to your presence and make him feel his life is threatened. So rather than fleeing so he doesn't get caught he may feel cornered and threatened and things may get much worse

Things are only going to get worse for the invader. I know my house much better than he does in the dark, and I have a shotgun to say hello with.

Seriously man, you have to look at the most logical response. You said it yourself, the man will feel threatened. Therefore, he will run 99% of the time.

With that logic do you think it's better to hide, unarmed, in a corner and hope that he just takes your stuff and leaves?
