^Unlikley, if someone breaks in when you are home, they mean to do you harm. If they just wanted to steal your stuff they would until the next morning after you've left for work.
I was a claim rep at State Farm for 1.5 years on the theft team, housing side. I handled literally HUNDREDS of theft claims as well as the other 6 people on my team (and keep in mind we were only covering OK/KS).
In thousands of burglary claims, exactly ONE was a home invasion.
The homeowner was home, heard the commotion at his front door, took a defensive position and blasted the guy with his shotgun as he came thorugh the door.........nothing stolen...........I just paid him for the clean up to his house and replacing the door.
