This pretty much sums it up, religious people don't give a shit what atheists think or want...and then try to pass laws (successfully) as well as push their lifestyles which are specific to their chosen religion onto everyone....and we're the close-minded ones?

We're not trying to force anything upon you, we're trying to remove things which are specific to a certain religion from being forced onto everyone simply because one group who happens to make up the majority wants it their way. You want us to keep to ourselves and you to yourselves, but only if you and the country you live in maintains its current religious direction and moderation? why cant i accept that others think and believe different? i certainly do. i have no problem with that. everyone in this world thinks differently from me. you are confusing 2 issues here. you think im not tolerating the abrahamic religions (which is where the majority of my contentions lie) because they believe in something different from me. that is simply not true. why havent i ever railed against confucianism? or the puebloan religions? or shintoism?

i cant stand the abrahamic religions, not because they are different, but because of the harm they do to half the population of this planet. it is incredible how bad these 3 religions are, how much damage they do is unbelievable. does my atheism harm people? yeah, it might. i railed against someones religion when they had nothing left in life except religion. (true story) but that just makes me a dick and i learned from that. did it cause harm? probably a little. did anyone die? nope. was anyone tied to a fence and beaten to death because of their sexuality? nope. was anyone's rights violated? nope.

has their been atheists that have killed millions? yes, stalin was an atheist. did he kill all those people in the name of atheism? lol, no. are millions of people killed in the name of god, allah, and yahweh every decade? yeeeeeeep.

so, do i think atheism is superior than christianity? you betcha. in the same way that i think everyone should KNOW that 2+2=4. it doesnt fucking matter if a 6000-2000 year old collection of books tells you different. there is a demonstrable evidence that 2+2=4.

There are multiple examples of the Bible calling for death for a variety of things. It even calls for the killing of apostates numerous times, just like Islam!

For those who run the old "but that's the Old Testament, Jesus changed all that!" flag up the flagpole, in Matthew-yep, New Testament here, Jesus states that those would "curse thy father or thy mother shall be put to death".

Religions must kill those who go against them. Otherwise logic will prevail and people will see through the bullshit. This is happening here in the US. Look at all the poor little Christians claiming they are being attacked. Cry me a river.....

I'm sorry, but when the militant atheists Mr. Sleeve imagines are out there begin dragging people out of their beds and torturing them and burning down their houses and churches because they wont renounce their God, then they can claim they're being attacked! Otherwise, shut up! For religion to claim it is being attacked because society no longer genuflects appropriately to their invisible people does not make their case stronger.

By the way, I do not believe there is anything wrong with belittling people that publicly affirm their belief in unprovable, unobservable things, or believe counter to proven observed phenomena. Actually, they belittle themselves quite well, some of us just dare to point it out. If someone claimed "germs don't cause disease", or "the Sun revolves around the Earth" or some other inanity, we wouldn't tolerate it being taught to our kids or being trumpeted as the truth. So it is with other forms of mythology. The counter to that is how often "believers" feel the need to belittle the results of scientific inquiry that produces facts contrary to their beliefs at every opportunity and have for thousands of years. There are numerous examples of that in current events. The GOP and their anti-intellectual, anti-science platform, the tolerance of places like The Creation Museum which teach that science is wrong, but Genesis is right.....if pointing out the ridiculousness of these things is to"belittle", then we aren't doing a good enough job.

Lastly, most atheists I know are receptive to new information in a way that religious adherents seem not to be, so the idea that atheists want to promote an agenda that is anything other than the desire for the celebration of open inquiry, free of dogma of any kind, is a spurious notion.
