    Flat tax

Can some one explain to me like I'm five years old how a flat tax for everyone would benefit a majority of Americans and help reduce our debt?

Everyone would be paying some form of federal income tax. Not getting a pay day over and above the amout they paid in with holdings on refund day.

You want a fair tax though and no income tax. It taxes consumption not production would eliminate the weapon in the irs, keep the govt from playing favorites via the tax code, and whole host of other positive things.

PLEASE STOP POSTING IN THIS FORUM YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT

flat tax is (basically) a fucked up system.
As an example: in 2010, the United States payroll tax assessed a flat rate of 15.3% on all income under $106,800 and only 1.45% above that level. Thus, someone earning $100,000 paid $15,300 (a rate of 15.3%) while someone earning $1,000,000 paid $28,350 (a rate of 2.8%).

The richer you are, the less you pay.

Also there are still deductions in a flat tax system, meaning that you can STILL have all of your money returned at the end of the year.

There are more than 20 countries that have a flat tax in place, and they all have some of the largest poor to rich gaps in the world. flat tax is amazing for people that make a lot of money, and terribly shitty for people that don't make very much.

These two guys above me went off spitting about fairtax, but if they actually knew anything then they'd know fair tax =/= flat tax (flat tax is even more inbred redneck republican though. it's sickening with stupidity)

A true flat tax would be 15% of EVERYTHING at point of sale or income. The system of first $100,000 at 15% and the rest at a lower rate is not a flat tax system.

And under the current system, the richer you are, the more you pay, but at a lower overall percentage. Last I checked 28K was more than 15K.

Squid. Trust me I know what I am talking about. Kiss my ass btw been posting here long before you.

Phone posts are short and to the point.

Flat tax every pays. You make a dollar govt gets a dime, fucks the lower income brackets harder than now. This is why we need to go to the fair tax

Lol at calling the fair tax retarted, there is more independed study devoted to it showing as a great way to fund our public coffers, than anything else purposed, educate your self on it before you open your trap. Manics post would be a great place to start

Just because you've been on a forum that has nothing to do with politics longer than I have gives you no qualifications to talk politics I don't know how you even tried to justify yourself like that?

please show me these brilliant independent studies then!

the guy at the top asked what FLAT TAX was. you failed to describe flat tax NOR did you correctly describe flat tax in your post.

what are you even talking about? payroll taxes are just withholdings of income taxes by an employer. a flat tax is (for the most part) an income tax.

Do you know what the payroll tax cap is? it's a cap that people making over (100,000 I believe) don't have to pay SOCIAL SECURITY taxes on that income (any income over 100,000).

flat tax is taking a fixed percentage of income and taxing it. However in almost every flat tax system introduced around the world, including ones that have been presented in america, it's only a flat taxation of income up to a set point ($106,000 for example) and then is adjusted to only be a few percentage points after that. so 15% to 106,000, and then 2.4% for any income after that. Make 200,000? Pay 15% of 106,000, and then 2.4% of the remaining 94,000.

Essentially it makes it way cheaper for rich people, and way more for poor and middle class people.

A flat tax has only one tax bracket not multiple. Tax should be 15% at point of sale. Done. No income tax, no deductions, no punishing success.
When I first started work I made $14.50hr and got an xtra $1.50 for afternoon shift. When I worked afternoon shift I took home $40 a week LESS! Graduated systems punish success.

Again, lets say it all together.
                            Flat
                            Tax
                            Systems
                            Have
                            Only
                            One
                            Tax
                            Bracket

That means the guy who makes $1,000,000 pays $150,000. But then again you sound like a lefty so Im guessing you are eyeballing the other $850,000. Also under this system if you make $50,000, you pay $7,500.
                            Do you get it?!?
