But who will create the jobs!?? Do you want to pay $15 for a McTripleBypass? I work out, why do I need to pay for health insurance for fat people? And why doesn't everyone just work harder?!!

What I will say is that while I'm not pleased I had to pay over 40k in tax last year, I do understand that this wouldn't be the greatest country on Earth unless people like me were paying for it. I've no problem chipping in so other people can live better.

What I do have a problem with is underwriting the corporate welfare state, with its 1% tax dodgers, big agro, and defense industrial complex scammers. These people are rich not through hard work, but through structural shafting that fuck every single one of us. The game is rigged in their favor and all out collective hard work won't change it.

Go ahead and hate poor people. One day you'll realize they're not the ones asking for handouts.
^ I agree with that last part

Rich people are the most greedy fucks out there. I know some poor people that would give you their last buck if you really needed it.

You're arguing the wrong point. This change has the potential to affect millions of middle class citizens if the cost of living goes up exponentially as a result. If that will happen, I don't know. But the potential is there. The wealthiest will laugh it off, it's everyone else that works out a living that is covering the living expense of the stupid and lazy. As said previously, min wage is for people just starting out in the workforce and a way to gain experience needed to EARN a better living for yourself and your family. Just coasting on the least amount of work needed to not get fired is not my problem nor should I need to pay for them to have more money to blow on weed and LED TVs. Period. Work harder, be smarter, make more money.

did you know that only 85 people have as much wealth as 3 billion people? There are people starving who don't have clean water and we still pretend the 1% are our friends. they aren't.

Not sure about where you are but here no one at walmart makes minimum wage. My bosses wife made $15/hr when she was doing nights. and thats to put shit on shelves.

also, I made 15 an hour and was doing fine.

How do you know rich people are greedy fucks? Is it okay categorize all rich people but not to do so with poor people? Rich people are often skittish. Why? Because people want some of what they have. and will go to some disgusting lengths to get some. just think about women.... You see?

What needs to be done is to cut the useless bureaucracies and waste less money and stop stunting job growth due to "environmental" issues. Building a fucking refinery would be a good step.

I dont mind paying taxes either. However, Its hard not to get pissed when i see people milking gov aid and doing anything to avoid work.. And it isnt hard to find a good paying job here. I see a lot of professional victims..

                  1) No, the potential isn't there. Go back to my post on page 3 and read the data from San Francisco regarding their 25% wage increase and to corresponding 2% increase in prices in the restaurants where they worked. Do you even know what the word "exponentially" means?

                  2) If even the potential for a negative consequence is grounds for prohibiting it altogether, then you must believe we should ban all guns since there's the potential that they will be used in a murder. Right?

This is 100% factually inaccurate. 75% of those working in minimum wage jobs are NOT in the 16-25 year age range. They are not just "starting out". This is one of the most-debunked myths surrounding this issue, and yet some people continue to ignore that fact simply because it doesn't fit their preconceived notions about the situation.

50% of people earning minimum wage rely on some kind of government subsidy (food stamps, welfare, etc) in order to supplement their meager income. By keeping wages low, you are forcing more and more people on to the government's handout list as their purchasing power shrinks year after year. So which would you rather have:

                    a) employers pay a wage high enough to keep a full-time worker out of poverty

                    b) employers don't pay that wage, and instead you get to pay for it with your tax dollars

You can't have low wages AND less people relying on government handouts. The two things are, by their very nature, mutually exclusive.

It's funny, all the people that are crying about it needing to be done are the college educated people that I'm pretty damn sure don't make close to minimum wage, and have not for a majority of their employed life.

Be smarter. Be smarter by working harder. And stop being poor while you're being smarter and working harder.

Are you really so obtuse or is your world view so narrow because your head is so far up your backside that the only way to see anything is to look out your own asshole?

And go look up the word exponentially, for fuck's sake.

Yep, dont have to worry about lazy and unmotivated slackers up here, smells pretty good too. Good job jumping on your butt buddy Corvallis' criticism of my use of the word. How dare I over exaggerate a little, not like you ever do the same.

I'm bowing out, have fun rewarding the people who refuse to make something more of themselves. We'll see if it has the intended result. Let's give them all trophies and long hugs as well. Maybe then we'll all feel like good people.

You weren't over exaggerating, you actually don't know what the word means.

And if you're so hard done by paying a few percent more for things, then stop being stupid and lazy and go work harder so you can be richer and afford more things.

I've tripled my income over the last 4 years. Don't have to tell me to hustle, you might want to share the wisdom with your underachieving friends. Maybe they are just waiting for the government to fix it for them... oh wait too late. Good for them.
