Edit: Yes no matter the results of the grand jury the natives (well those posing as locals anyway) are going to loot and riot, they are all primed up and ready. All they need is the "excuse" to be out raged and no matter if charges or no charges are brought to bare, there is going to be "injustice" in these peoples eyes and there will be riots as a result...

there's definitely social injustice in this country but I have no idea what the Seattle police have to do with what happened 2,000 miles away. The worst thing I've heard of recently is African Americans in Seattle being targeted more than proportionally for public use of pot, but it was mostly isolated to 1 police officer who handed out more tickets than anyone else. #1stworldproblems

Court docs for those that are interested. I'm not into getting really worked up about shit like this, just wanted to read what I could. I will be vey disappointed if there isn't someone charge for lying under oath... There are two very distinctly different stories being told here.

What about all the candid video form local residents that was filmed in the moments after the incident that confirm the officers story, and 100% contradict the version of events told by those that were more directly involved. The fact that this even went the grand jury is a huge thing in the name of investigating wrong doing at all. I would be even more disappointed and leery if any charges were brought to bare, as it would have huge implications to anyone defending them selves from an aggressor even the "authorities". Just like the Martin case was not about the death of martin as much as it was about putting Castle Doctrine and defending ones self on trial.

If someone has their hand on the slide of a semi auto pistol and is pushing it back out of battery even a few 1000th's of an inch your going to get a click of the striker on the safety interlocks or the hammer to the striker, if you can even get the striker to release on hammerless pistols this is also depended on the make and model.

Doesn't the disconnector prevent the hammer from falling (thus no click) on the 1911? Is the SIG229 different in that regard?

Is that what he was carrying I dont know. If so I would say its likely he would be carrying the DAK variant (standard issue for DHS, coastties and many PD's) which does not really have hammer per say more of a striker/hammer hybrid kinda thing.

I have never owned, shot or taken down a DAO or DAK, but seems to me that its conceivable that even with a out of battery slide position it would still allow for a full trigger pull but more than likely much like the DA/SA varriants and the 1911 cousin there is the interrupter lever that would take the rest of the trigger group out of the equation. Even my 220 will allow a full trigger pull with no resistance and there is an audible click when you hit the back when you expect the hammer to fall, but not like when the hammer drops. This could be the click he was referring too, not so much the hammer or striker moving against the interlocks. You pull the the trigger hard enough the more pronounce the click is going to be as the trigger hits the very back of its travel and its own stop.

That seems plausible, it just stood out to me (at the time I saw it) as unusual.

Skimming through some of the witness testimony, at this point I am inclined to agree with the GJ.
