I'm sure the company did well with all the years we have been at war. But remember the Gov. buys from the lowest bidder period. I guess those companies kept people employed during the initial build of these and kept people off the tit of the gov in doing so.

Just military equipment should not be used or owned by local police departments. That is why we have the Army.

Hey we got one of those too! Along with fifty (50) 5.56 rifles at $500 each and twenty (20) 7.62s at $140 per.

The county seat ranks 209th out of the 263 cities listed in Tennessee's crime index. However this site says I live in the most dangerous state in America.

I worked as a contractor for the DOD if that counts. And if you are going to say White and Black... I get it. Yes there are deals done that are not the lowest bidding basis. But a very high percentage is that, based on lowest bid.

While sometimes there is definitely a "race to the bottom", I can promise you it's not always true. Because of the significant amount of testing and certification involved when the military purchases a new part or product, they often stick with the same manufacturers over and over. I work for a company that supplies parts for Navy ships, and we sell them stuff at huge marups because they insist it be exactly the same part we sold them 50 years ago, which is really expensive.

Ada county (where I live) has the largest population in the state and the Ada country sheriff (315 officers), which is the largest government agency in the state besides the state government as a whole. Ada county also includes the Idaho state police headquarters (288 officers), as well as the largest (Boise, 300 officers) and second largest (Meridian, 87 officers) city police forces.

Ada has one page, with one mine vehicle, and one armored vehicle, and a few dozen guns dating back to 2005. Ada county sheriff used the armored mine vehicle at a meth lab bust a few months back.

Comparatively it seems Idaho receives very little.
