Awesome post Ryan. Thanks for your insightful knowledgeable advice. If you are interested, I'll fly you to my races to work as my driving coach and mentor.

Dude, this isn't Professional racing, don't let the name PRO3 fool you. It stands for Provisional not Professional.

Contact in club racing is seriously frowned upon. Too much of it and you'll get suspended. They are racing for a cute little trophy, nothing more. It's all for fun and the goal is to be able to come back and race next weekend. There's nothing in that formula that justifies pushing a car through any crack that is there risking the other cars around you. Some stuff just happens and is basically unavoidable. But in this case, the other driver was a bit too eager and overestimated his power advantage. He had two cars on the outside of him in a tight corner on a narrow track. He should have backed out and waited for a longer straight.

And I'd cuss him and give him the bird too if that were my car he just banged up. It may be club racing, but it ain't cheap. Most of the guys do a lot of work on their cars on their own.

I'm guessing the humorous part about your post is the fact that I am a driving coach, and people do fly me in to do data coaching for them. :wgaf:

Not that I'm disagreeing that setting aside your emotions is technically better driving, but I'm pretty sure everyone else who watched the video including the OP himself also noticed he lost time.

Personally in this case I'd get more satisfaction out of flipping off the shithead driver and passing the car ahead properly instead of as a side effect of their contact with another car, but to each his own I guess.

Hey Ryan, I'd love to know your last name so I could Google you. It would be interesting to look up your race results and find out who youcoach for.

In my opinion, you've been coming across as a forum blowhard. Let's see your videos hotshot! I posted this video because it's got good entertainment value and good e30 content. I've been trying to share some info about the class and the cars as questions are asked. There is no chest puffing on my part. I could care less about that, I don't even know you guys. The funny thing is, that's all I see from you in your posts on this thread.

I'm pretty sure you're the "forum blow hard" screaming curse words and driving like a retard because you had some contact in a race. I have nothing to prove to you

Ryan, are you saying that you've never gotten emotional (angry) during an MX-5 cup race? That seems to be the point of your criticism, that Kevin lost his cool after contact with a car that didn't even look to be in his class. That wouldn't make you say a few curse words?

Could we slow down the dick swinging just a tad and get something constructive out of this? Just once?

of course I would get upset if i was crashed into. I lost the championship last year because I got taken out on the 1st lap @ mazda raceway laguna after qualifying 3rd. But what did I do after getting crashed and sent to the back of a 30 car field? I didnt yell and scream like an idiot... I put my head down and worked my way back to 9th.

The point of my whole post was very simple. Most people over look the fact that they get so emotional over something like contact, and it ruins their entire race. There was nothing more, nothing less.

I posted the link to slow down some of the other guys just a bit, not necessarily you or the OP. Remember, people are kind of anonymous on the internet unless they take the time to show their experience.

That's an admirable attitude, but I think that a fair amount of people, professional race drivers included, would be hard pressed to keep their emotions in check. It is, however, something to strive for in W2W.

Out of curiousity, do you have to pay for repairs to the car? I think that may factor into this as well.

Kevin put his head down and fought to first in class that same race. So I guess he didn't lose much time at all letting all his anger and frustration out around an already ruined corner.
