I think Kevin was more upset because that car pushed Kevin in Mike Olsen's PRO3 car. Mike and another PRO3 car were neck and neck for the season championship. Kevin runs at the front when he does enter races. Kevin had told Mike and Caelin he'd be racing with them, but ultimatly would not ruin their race for the championship. THen on lap one you see what happens. The guy turns the front of the PRO3 grid into a pinball arcade game.

And if you know Kevin, he's MR. laidback. That he blew up for a couple seconds in the car is funny beyond belief.

To keep the entertainment value of this thread up, here's my mishap from 2007. Collateral damage from another car's lurid slide.

          Hi Lance

Is that the accident that lead to a complete front swap?

Yes it was. The hit was hard enough to require replacement of the front end from the firewall forward. If it were a street car, it would have been totalled. But from the A-pillar back the car was fine, with an expensive roll cage and the motorsport flag paint job. So we dug in and with a lot of volunteer help, saved the car from the crusher to race again.

Hey Lance, another question. Is that you from whom I bought perhaps 15 BTCC, DTM and rally vids involving e30 M3s? If so, do you still have them available in DVD or Divx format?

Yes, that was me. However I have not converted any other titles for a number of years. If someone wants to take the DVDs and throw them up on the web, that's fine with me. I don't hold the copywrite to any of that stuff. :)

                      +1 to that Lance!

I laughed really f'in hard when I saw that video...almost made the incident worth it...almost.

I'm the driver of the Reaper; the one shown sideways in front of Kevin's car. The fact that both KD and I kept racing after that corner was really something to marvel at. "Pinball" is a good description of how I felt after that particular race.

Here's the view from my seat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOiH4a2vRoc

KD and I are in close quarters, he's off to my left rear by inches, heading into T3 when out of no where...Kevin tags the left rear quarter panel and around I go. The white BMW's passenger door kept me from going around completely. I grab a gear, drop the clutch and try to determine how much, if any racecar I have left at that point. Managed to finish 3rd in class with a rather mangled front end.

It wasn't until getting back to the paddock that I found out what happened.

Oh, as far as who pays for the damage to my car? That would be yours truly. Club racing at its best.

I'm going to have to side with KD on that one. The E46 seemed (to lay eyes) as if he was trying to fit where he really couldn't. Square peg, round hole style.

Truly remarkable that you both (KD and Pro3 130) stayed on the track.

@Lance, I love driving past the car in front of AFC. That crash was brutal, man. Brutal.

What's done is done, if you're car is still race worth, dont let the incident penalize you further due to your anger.
I was taught an expression the other day..."keyboard thug". It's someone who treats people poorly because the Internet hides them.

You don't know the OP. Among his friends it might be hilarious that he was flipping the other driver off. Why assume it's grounds for criticism?

Ok Ryan, clearly you've got a racing background. But at your next race walk up to a driver that just got his car crunched, to the tune of repair bill that is 15% of his annual take-home, because someone else pulled a bonehead low percentage move. That guy's gonna be pissed. Go treat him like crap and see if he doesn't doesn't go for your throat.

It's irresponsible to make low percentage moves in club racing. We all do it occasionally, but most of us keep the red haze in check as much as we can.

It's not "rubbin is racin". It's just a pursuit of a $6 trophy for the fun and bragging rights. Shit does happen. But it happens less when folks are criticized for dumb moves.

Any exhaust, engine back and chip and piggyback engine management are allowed. Any shocks, two way is max allowed, and any spring and bar package. There are also a bunch of different differential ratios allowed. The minimum weight is 2650lbs including driver and everyone runs on the Toyo R888 in a 225 size.

I'm currently building a NASA spec e30 car so we are limited on mods. So hearing that you guys can port match, lighten and stuff makes me jeolous. What are your horse power numbers? As you know, we're limited to 205 and with a higher weight of 2750. So Pro3 is really appealing. You guys should start a Nor Cal chapter..

                                Nooooooooooooooo

Go talk to your SpecE30 buddies out there about this. I think that you'll find that the strict rules in SpecE30 saves lots of money, reduces problems, and keeps the cars more competitive.

When the cars are the same, everyone has the same problems. Any problem you have, 10 guys in your region have had it. But when folks have unique set ups, they have unique problems.

In SpecE30 when the guy next to you kicks your ass, it's because you suck. I don't want to lose because I'm outspent, I want to lose because I suck.

And, ah, I generally get my wish, lol.

Every time I hear about the mods allowed in Pro3 or the E30's racing down under I think to myself "man that would be a bummer".

Fast isn't the secret to fun. The secret to fun is equal cars. Lots of them. Hot trophy chicks are pretty ok too.

You might want to check on that SpecE30 hp limitation of 205.
