I'm happy in DSP, SM is full of the trailer queens.... Plus the guy in our region putting down 1000 pt runs drives an Evo in SM.

What is you guys' input on driving without ABS? Apparently after yesterday, my pump is taking a dump.... Started the car today and the light was on, wasn't on yesterday.

Learn threshold braking or find a good used one?

Electronics beat us everytime. If you want I'll send u the one from my bronzit for only the cost of shipping. I think the pump is good it was just fucked sensors

Well, I knew down the road I wanted to take the ABS out anyway and learn to brake without it... However, yesterday was the first time the car has seen an event, it was the shakedown for the car.... SO I'm wondering if it's a tad early to remove the ABS and learn the braking, or what....

And thanks Buddy, I'll definitely keep that in mind.... I didn't move my car at all today until like 5:30, so I noticed the light then.... I'll try to figure out specifically what's going and and go from there. But thank you.... Since I was thinking about removing it down the road, I'm wondering if it's too early to remove now.

I wouldn't take abs out if I were you, since you physically cannot out brake it. There's no point learning to brake without it either, as you won't be buying a car without it anytime soon. I say just fix it and be happy....it doesn't slow you down unless you're a professional driver. Remember, F1 doesn't use abs because they had to ban it to slow them down. Same for any racing series that bans it....it's not because it slows the cars down.

ABS does increase your braking distance though.... If you practice enough and get really good pushing the car just to the brink, you can brake better without it.... Unless I'm completely wrong.

Point is: You'll never be that good.

maybe, maybe not. Too many variables to quantify that one, but the key to abs is repeatability. You won't be able to replicate its results time and time again with anywhere near the precision of the abs computer and pump. It's very nice to not have to concentrate hard on threshold and compression braking and just jam the pedal down when the need arises.

True..... LIke I've said over and over on here and facebook to Damian and everyone else involved in that post............... It happened like 6 hours ago, I haven't given it ANY thought lol. I'm doing homework, and I'll be doing homework all day tomorrow. I can drive the car tomorrow, probably for a week or two before I decide what to do.

I know man. I'd get Cal to take a look and see what's going on with it, and if the pump's going get z31's. Your call, you've heard the arguments for/against. Driving without it on the street won't be too bad, just don't trust abs will come on until the light goes away or the problem's fixed.

As for DSP classing, you'd need a motor like Alex S's. It's got ITBs, stock internals and cam, dunno about porting (probs not), but every other bolt on possible. Or get a SA 325iS motor or build one to that spec. That's technically legal per the rule book, but will get a whole lot of o_O looks and disbelief. Though the book does say an E30 328 is legal to update/backdate between....so....super eta stroker? Might be legal if you can interchange parts.

SA is outta the question. I read through the rules and you can only use what was available in the U.S. and Canada as long as the only changes to the Canadian model were for comfort and didn't impact performance. I might get Cal to look at it, but in all honesty, I don't have the money to pay them to fix it. My old man's a mechanic and I'll see what he says if he can look at the car.

Actually, I emailed Alex S. but I dunno if he got it. I'm really looking for tips / suggestions for DSP, and MAINLY I wanna look at a parts list for the motor and such.... Do you have such details on his build?

Those tricky rule writing bastards, always raining on my parade. The only details on Alex's build I know of are what he's posted on the forums, try searching for threads and posts. I wouldn't expect too much, as he is trying to be nationally competitive. He does rock 285/30/18 A6s though.

I'll send you the link on facebook.... It takes a while, but the rules are worth a read to know exactly what you can and can't do. I'm not finished yet, but it's clarified a few things.

I've been pretty happy with my car in SM w/o abs...obviously it was way underpowered but not having ABS was not really an issue on sticky street tires. I'll see how that works later this year on dot-r tires though.

Thanks Jean. It's nice to hear everyone's input. If it's something simple like a sensor, it would be worth fixing, if it's gonna be a pain... I dunno if it's worth it. (BUT, if I do get Buddy's pump, and it works, I'm guessing I'd be draining all the fluid. If so, it finally gives me an excuse to put in my ATE fluid and do the stainless lines that have been sitting in the garage for months and months).
