Thats why you get a real diff and don't piddle with the stock diff. I've never had problems with the stock lsd "fading" until I got past the 300whp mark.
Questions for E30 drifters

You have actual track drifting experience. So, I can't argue with that.
that reminds me. the diff mod you did- was it easy? and can you feel a big difference?Comment

This seems to be a popular recipe from what I've seen:
cut springs, welded diff, botched bodywork, and a stuffed animal hanging from the towhook.

Putting a 3rd clutch in isn't hard at all. The machine work for the 4th was just costly. The actual diff tear down is easy.

hahaha mad tyte
Although I dont like it when people use the excuse "its a drift car" when the car looks like complete ass, I dont think a $10k paintjob is necessary when your body may only make it through a couple events before getting scratched & destroyed.
In MY opinion the focus should be on making the car perform properly before looking awesome, others disagree. So if you are on a particular budget & building a drift car I definately think that if body work & paint is on your list of things to do then it is an acceptable excuse.Adventures of an E30Originally posted by e30lovsweet a mk4 jetta, haven't seen one of them for about 14 secondsComment

so is it a notable difference? sorry for the questions. I want to pick up a lsd but I want more lock on the cheap.
I know in nissan diffs people just over pack the clutchs and it raises the lock. and it's real easy and cheapComment

alright thanks. I want a little more lock but not overkill. just a good balance for a dd.Comment

I haven't done much in the way of E30 drifting, but I've done a little bit in a couple friends cars but no where near a drift day. Welded diffs are great if you don't daily the car, I like Toe in (1/8), not a whole lot of static rear camber, and steady state understeer (makes it easier to recover for me).
By the way 'manji' is just a Scandinavian flick.

I was once on I95 going to new hampshire and there was an ae86 infront of me that i was drooling over. he then procceded to manjiComment

I can do tight turns with no lock up. But the diff def takes my abuse.
Manji is doing repeated drifts to connect two corners. IE linking a straight away to avoid straightening. You're thinking of a feint style of initiation.

Yea I never did recover that haha but, I always thought it was a good pic. The other pic I gotta say was one of my better ones.
Why yes it is buddie....
(Oh well!!!)
I mean everyone that has raced this road knows that it has close to no traffic at all, and we always have people watching out for traffic way ahead of any danger at all. Anyway ive raced this road for almost 4 1/2 years with no problem at all not even so much as a ticket (always got kicked out by cops but never cited). I guess my say the people that have fun on this road know enough about it to not to give a shit about being on the wrong side of the road.
Btw I didnt take any offence to what was said, I just wanted to say im old enough to know whats right from wrong and my wrong doing is my buisness. If its illegal well I hope the cops themself catch me for it till then ill keep doing what I do best ...Sliding canyons.

Sorry....
And Now Back To The Thread... I wanna say good shit getting all this info I think its kool to know what people are running and how they feel about their own setups. Its giving me ideas on what to do next with mine.sigpic(OO=[][]=OO)Comment
