I got a wicked deal on mine, but if I were to do it again I'd seriously consider the Kirk bar since it's half the price of a new TCK.
I think the VSR uses TCK's jigs, that's the rumor I've heard in the past.Comment

I'm curious to look at a VSR bar now to see how fitment of that is.Comment

I haven't been super impressed by the fit/finish of the bars I've seen here in the US, including Autopower and Kirk. The VSR looked interesting, but there were some weird design choices (curved backstays!?!?). I haven't seen TC Kline in an E30, but their other bars look pretty good.sigpic

With the harness provision, the Kirk bar came out about the same as the VSR (pricewise). I ordered the VSR last week. Mario at VSR asked me to take a few measurements to get the harness bar in the right position. I like that, as a nice angle for my harness is a primary concern. I'll post some pics/review when I have a chance.S50'd

Looking at the photo I don't think it will be that hard to do. I have the same roll bar and it installs at the very end of where the rear seat back fits. As you can see from the photos the seat is a little deformed around where the bar goes, I think you just kind of force it back on there and no cutting is required.
I still have a few more things to do before I can put my rear seat back in but I plan to do the same thing on my car. (Not going to use the rear seat but I think it looks better than leaving it all exposed.Comment

What is the point in keeping the back seat? Not hating, I'm just curious. It's not like anyone can sit back there anyways cause of the cage, so is it just for looks/sound deadening?-AlexComment

I'd also be curious to hear about McCall's experience fitting the rear seat back in.

I kept the rear seat in because for a while I was still autoxing it and for ST it's required to retain the rear seat. If it was a dedicated track toy, I wouldn't have bothered. It did end up looking pretty nice and now it's not worth taking out.Comment
