new tip on removing sound deadeing

    hello guys,
I took the sound deadening out and was in the process of removing the residue, i gave wd-40 a try and it worked great.
just wanted to share the tip with others.
Just spray it on let it sit. Wipe off 5 min later.

Awesome man, I'm in the same stage as you right now, been using lacquer thinner and just doing small sections at a time. Wd40 should be much more tolerable, gonna try it right now!

            tools
            • compressed air in a can used upside down,
            • rubber mallet,
            • heat gun,
            • plastic putty,
            • metal putty knife

            procedure
            • spray the sound deadening with the can upside on the edges.
            • hit it with a rubber mallet

            procedure 2
            • use heat gun on the sound deadening
            • then pry it up with a putty knife

            heat gun in action

Psssh Alex just man up and delete some brain cells, use gas.
But in all seriousness I wish I would have known this when I did mine. The heat gun worked better than the compressed air upside down for me.

A torch and scraper do wonders for this. I have used them on the last 2 race cars I have helped build.

Seat bench was maybe 2 lbs

                    • Driver side rear floor board
                    • Passenger side floor board
                    • Passenger rear floor board
                    • Under rear seat

                    Total weight 10 lbs
I also removed the sound deadening under the rear shelf but didn't weigh it.

Yup, I find in the winter is the easiest to remove it. Done two cars in the winter and one in the summer. Winter was just a rubber hammer and a bag. Summer was hellish hot and a metal chisel.
