Flame suit on- Anybody track or auto-x a low car?

I used to be really into auto-x but then got more into the stance and fitment scene. Now my roommate is doing a lot of auto-x and is getting good at it and my competitiveness is making me want to get back out there. I'm wondering if anyone else is doing events with a low E30?

My suspension is GE coils with Bilstein Sports, soon to be replaced with front iX Konis for more low and more travel. I have the revshift rear subframe riser bushings with diff spacers, and I'm on E30 M3 suspension. Everything except swaybar bushings is revshift poly, I have delrin Condor offset front control arm bushings.

I think right now my biggest headache would be fitting rubber under the car, but I'm sure with some fender rolling and higher offset wheels I could get some decent rubber in there no problem. Currently running 17x8 front 17x9 rear with 215/40 Nitto NeoGens. I'll be giong lower once I get my struts sectioned for the Konis.

Feel free to post up pictures of your ride height and any experience you have with diong events with a low e30. Obviously the real solution would be to buy a second car to do events with but that's not realistic for me right now at all.

if you have coils, why not just raise it up a bit to a functional ride height?

around here most autox is done in old parking lots and air strips, the pavement isn't that nice and there are bumps and dips. if you're already laying frame it's not going to end to well.

I did a couple in my old car, it's not ideal but it's still fun. I used to raise the front an inch just for tire clearance when turning but it was still pretty low.

This. You have the ability to adjust your height, this would be a perfect time to do it.

I have seen stanced cars come out and they range from uncompetitive to very uncompetitive, likely due to 1) driver skill 2) tires/prep for class and 3) poor suspension dynamics of being slammed. It'll still be fun but if you are going for times, them neogens aren't doing you any favors.

Duly noted. That would be temporary and if I decide to get back into it I have two sets of 15's and two sets of 17's I can choose from to put a better street tire or R-Comp on.

Church is very flat/smooth, but SSW is very harsh at the transition from the inner paved area where the start box is onto the banked corner of the track, but you're still going relatively slow and are hitting it at an angle. I bottomed out there with bilsteins, haven't been back with Konis yet. You'd probably be fine.

I have no idea what people mean by "low" in this thread...

I thought the point of getting performance out of an e30 was lowering it?

Do you mean like Stanced and Cambered low?

We are talking "lifestyle" levels of low here.

Is it possible to autox a stancebro car? Absolutely, and it'd probably be fun assuming you actually have travel and won't be scraping frame. If you're sparking or if it looks even a little unsafe, you'll probably be asked to leave.

Will it be remotely competitive? Nope. There's a reason you don't see stanced cars competing at anything.
