how much does a camper like that cost?

the biggest downside to something like that is i don't feel like getting a bigger truck. i'm more than content with my ranger and i don't really see a setup like that being ideal for a cross country trip

still pretty good for local track days though

Depends on the options but anywhere from 14k to the mid 20s. I bought mine used for 7k. They make ones that fit in ranger sized pickups too. Mine has everything you need except for a bathroom but most tracks have nice toilets anyways. I recently replaced my propane fridge with a 12v/110v compressor fridge, I can run it continuously for two to three days off a single flooded battery and literally freeze icecream inside. Mine was also equipped with a propane water heater and an outdoor shower. I think if I added a solar panel I could go "off grid" for s week or two comfortably. Besides large amounts of space I don't see anything in your camper drawing that couldn't be accomplished with a truck camper in your Ranger or another similarly sized truck. Most truck campers have a queen sized bed, sink with hot water, fridge, dinette and option of air conditioning. Larger models have full bathrooms but they are a headache to empty and sanitize. I can't hyperlink on my phone but check out this guys pickup with a northstar camper mounted to his ranger:

jeez, i figured they'd be cheaper than $7k... that's a bit steep considering the whole bus goes for about $4-5k. did google them to see some interior shots though, it is fairly impressive how much shit they've packed into such a small space.

i bet it's great for 3-4 day stints, but 4-6 months? add to the fact of how my ranger could barely pull an e30 on a dolly, let alone a full camper in the bed, i just don't think it'd work

also, my floorplan was heavily limited by the program i was using - the wall/ceiling is gonna have storage bins, kinda sorta like ones you'd find on a plane

        like this, only finished

i'd also like to be able to have enough space to comfortably house an acquaintance or two - one of whom would ideally be a local driver who'd be willing to split fuel costs and maybe a little money on the side for towing his car to the same events i'm going to. i think a f350 with a camper in the bed might have trouble pulling something like this

An f350 or similarly sized pickup would pull a trailer like that no problem. Would probably need some overload springs or airbags if it was hauling a truck camper in the bed but should still be fine. Is your goal something that can haul muliple cars and serve as a camper or just a camper to take along to tracks etc?

            camper with occasional track duty

more than anything, the bus is so that i can travel around the country and scope out future places to live. my parents keep talking about moving out to california when they retire (in about two-three years) and i'm not so sure i want to stay in maryland, definitely not california. i don't think i could live out of (essentially) a truck bed for an extended period of time

              This is awesome.

It's right next to the idea I had for using an old flat bed tow truck. Even more awesome would be if it had a rear cab (that would normally seat 3 people, but convert to a bed with storage below). The idea was that the rear main hoop on the flat bed would be turned into a tire rack, with a huge storage box below.

The plus side would also be if a friend's car needed a tow you could tow it home on it's built in dolly system (better than $400 for a 300 mile tow!).

Do it. I want to see this done asap.

Look for some of the old F1 transports from the 50's/60's. Most were single chassis transports and fairly self contained.

They come up on Bring A Trailer occasionally for sale, but go for mucho $$$.

Is anyone else as sad as I am that Jalopi got banned?

What brought the Ban Hammer? Couldn't find any threads on his history that were truly ban worthy..

Or did he sleep with someone's mom.

He went on rant about how R3V sucks, and I think posted in a few threads. At the very least he said he would never return here, then got banned.

He made mention of the fact that he'd see us all when we finally graduated to the e36 & e46. He was a big ole dbag. Good riddance.

that said, e36s are much better cars from an engineers stand point.

e30s only look cooler. but that's the only thing that matters anyway.
