    When you rebuilt it what did you do with the valves?

    Considering how closely these two engines are related I simply wonder if was simply down to you run solid mounts, we run rubber?

    Best of luck with the repairs.
    M42 has better parts for springs; they are shared with s52 and s62

    valve spring retainers are not strong enough for over 7,000 rpm redline
    A local bunch found that out, too...

    not really tossed togeather; this is a proper lemons engine and probably very close to the average r3vswap 24v;

    an unknown prior life junkyard engine that had no non bolt on new parts added - for it to live 50 hours and implode is pretty damm good.

    awesome, he's a great guy. (but no, that's not his rabbit. I did encounter it on track once last weekend, they blew our doors off, that thing is absurdly quick now)

    for real, it's a lot better than I've been getting out of our raced M30s. oil starvation in left handers is a bitch.

    I wish everyone would take this thread more seriously, I mean this is LEMONS we are talking about here. News of this engine failure could make it to BMW AG, and then what? Some corporate heads are gonna roll thats what.

    Oh, doh it was important! but the eyesore racing driver was very intensely concentrating on passing 10 cars on the inside turn 1 lol

    the 24v e30 with full 22gal cell and loaded with coolsuit ice chest was only 2560lbs with 180lbs driver included. quite a party

    kronos what does your truckasaurous weigh in at? id imagine less?
