I finished my brake ducts today, so that I can give them a trial run with the Lotus guys next weekend.
This is going to be photo heavy...
The Condor plates are nice, but my Massive BBK required the upper brake backing plate hole to be cut off. Plus, the diameter of the rotor is larger, so it needs to be reoriented to get the air in the right spot.
I had the plates powder coated.
Then I fabricated some adapter Z-angle brackets that pick up the caliper mounting bolt.
I used the Garagistic duct adapters for the front valance and just silicone glued them on really well. Pretty straight forward, not worth the pictures.
For the forward-most clamp on the driver's side, I used a 3" adel clamp using an existing stud on the frame. The passenger side did not have the stud, so I looped a zip-tie through the frame, then one around the duct.
For the second attachment on both sides, I used another 3" adel clamp, but bent the tabs to make it clamp more symmetrically (hard to explain) and attached using the existing threaded studs on the insides of the wheel wells.
The third attachment is the tricky one. I used a zip-tie around the tie rod. This is the most important one. The movement of the duct is all between the second and third clamp. As you turn the wheel from lock-to-lock, you'll have to determine how much slack to allow. The duct will rub on the tie rod, so I zip tied some heater hose on it. It will also want to rub on the edge of the subframe, and you'll have to rotate the duct a little bit forward on the tie rod in order to avoid this.
Lastly, I found some 3" hose clamps to attach the duct at the brake ducts.
Nice. Jordan (gearheadE30) doesn't frequent R3V anymore but has brake cooling plates on his kitchen table so I'll share this with him.
Have fun at the track day - I'd enjoy coming out to see Evora do work but we'll be in Joliet. I can't wait until the 400 comes out and get to hear it in person.
