I have the same shirt. I really want to know more about the car. If it was connected with Alpina, why no Alpina aero? Was it just engine mods?

    We need more info!

side note: this makes me want to tear off my late model rear valence and just rock the late model bumper with the naked ass

They used both E30 323i and 325i in the local Group A touring cars up until 87 when the M3 took over. The worked M20's sounded good and performed well on tighter tracks even though they only had ~250hp.

As far as I know, there was no connection to Alpina, other than the fact that they were sponsored by a dealership that also sold Alpinas.

As for the stock BMW aero, I'm guessing either (a) Alpina aero wasnt any better than stock or (b) Alpina didn't build enough cars to meet homologate rules.

How cool. Thanks for sharing - watching part 2 now. Looks like a really neat time in racing!

Im with you. Just guessing but being a racecar in '86 its probably an 84/85 model. My guess is that it weighed around a ton max and with 250bhp it should really move.

Looking at pics, looks like it has the "jimmy hill" lip up front, but not much else in the name or "aero" at all

Im very curious about this car

I love the way the fender lips are rolled and pulled on this car.

230hp from pistons and a cam. Pretty impressive, I wish there was an engine bay pic.
Other than that it looks like it's basically stock suspension apart from the rear coil-on-shock coilovers.

I think that estimate is a little ambitious but from what Ive seen, if he bumped the compression over 10:1 it definitely will see a big jump in power, add in a cam that breathes in a lot more air and I see 200+ no problem

You'd be surprised what lots of compression and a huge cam can do. Id suspect high comp pistons not sure what m20 can handle. I'd guess around 11 or 12:1 and a big cam like 316 or higher. Id wanna know what that things rev limit was and what they did for a timing belt.
