The TRM's fit Lee's Race kit, you have to file down the ends of the caliper so it keeps the same radius as the rest of the caliper (not "significant", about same as for the Kosei). The front requires an 8mm spacer but the rear doesn't require anything.

Sadly the 8" TRMs are not a direct fit. I suspect that as many people will use wide 225 rubber, that will require the usual spacers to clear the struts. Then clearance might be easier...

        That's why I like the idea of the custom TD's in 15 x 8.

"Theoretically" the 8" wide wheel should push the caliper back out of the indent in the barrel and be 15-18mm farther from the spokes.

im also very interested in a TD group buy for a 15x8 wheel. any idea on the price? will it be about 100-120$ or significantly more since it's a custom size?

It shouldn't be significantly more, I think he quote me $230 for a custom made 17 x 9.

I "think", not positive, they should be in the $140ish range? Not bad considering all the 15 x 8s available right now are the wrong offset and would need hub rings ($20ish) and spacers ($150-300) and the 949 and UL wheels are all $150-160 for 15 x 8.

So a direct fit for $150ish shipped would still be a good deal.

I'll respond in this thread, or start another, as soon as I get some more info for everyone.

If keeping the same offset as a 7" wheel, the 8" wheel shall offer 12.7mm more clearance. And as the design is much improved over some othe 8" wheels (at least for caliper clearance), it sure would be a hit. Nonetheless, Rimstock/100+ do not have an 8" TD PR 1.3 yet, which would require them to make a brand new mold and casting. More involved than simply shaving a hub to get a different offset. But hey, if it works in a timely manner, you can count me in...

I'd like to see a pic of how much you filed down the caliper. I see this is also with an 8mm spacer, therefore the amount you needed to file down compared to me with a 3mm spacer would be "significant".

Yup, then ET 20 instead of 25 gets you 5 more mm.

You're right, I only ever priced 17s from him, and he doesn't show a 15 x 8 on the site, so that was my mistake.

But I guess he'll either say yay or nay!

                  If he says nay, I guess a 15 x 7 D-Force or 1.3 it is.

Remember he is on the Race kit, not the Sport kit, so he has thicker rotors.

wasnt the leason learned from the TR wheels that 20 eta is too high? we need 18 for it to be perfect with 225.

yes thicker rotors (same hat thickness though) and also means a wider caliper.

The Sport kit (300x21mm) and the Race kit (300x32mm) share the same caliper adapters. Which means that the hats have different depths to fit the thicker/thinner rotors. The rotors' inner faces are exactly at the same place, while the outer face is 11mm more outard on the Race kit. Same with the caliper's outer face. 11mm outward.

Which means that they are even more likely to cause interference with the wheel. I am hesitant to believe that the TRM wheels fit the race kit without some serious material removed from the caliper.

I also think that the Race kit and the TRM aren't a good match.

If you look at the profile of the caliper, towards the end (where they bolt it together after the brake line crosses over) the radius gets greater by like 1-2mm. I shaved that amount about 1/2" back into the caliper so it keeps the same radius now. My understanding talking to Lee in email was "that doesn't effect it at all structurally, it is also required for the Kosei's to work". The 8mm spacer is because the spokes contact the caliper otherwise, you could use a 5mm but I wanted a little extra clearance.
