I purchased a set of these and drove over to the Tire Rack warehouse yesterday and grabbed them.
15X8 with 225/50's
They fit fine, not much room to spare between the strut and tire, but enough. They do "stick out" a bit in the front.

Thanks for the pictures. Indeed, they do stick out "a bit". But trackers will most likely have camber plates set to maximum, so the top of the wheels will fit within the fenders.Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Maybe a 225 /45/15 would have a better choice as the tires look kind of balooony!!

I would have to disagree....most people run 205/ 50/ 15 which actually means that the 50 is 50% of the tire tread width that is stated in millimeters, this means the sidewall would be 205/2= 102.5 millimeter high sidewall
if you run the same calculation on a 225/50/15 the sidewall will be 212.5 millimeters high.....a full 10mm increase on the radius of the tire (or 20mm on the diameter)....as I said, Balooony
on a 225 /45/15 the sidewall height would be 101.25mm or just 1.25mm different than a 205/50/15
I hope this makes sense

yes, people do run that size, but the stock size is 195/65/14. That is the same size as 205/55/15 or 225/50/15. Just because they run them, doesn't make it right.I would have to disagree....most people run 205/ 50/ 15 which actually means that the 50 is 50% of the tire tread width that is stated in millimeters, this means the sidewall would be 205/2= 102.5 millimeter high sidewall

^what he said.
205/50/15 is a necessary evil because tire choice is better in that profile. performance tires arent made in 55+ profiles.90 E30 325iComment

I REALLY wish Falken made the RT-615 in a 225/45-15. Or maybe even wider...sigpic

I wanted to stay with the correct size wheel diameter, so 45 was out.
I also like a little sidewall, looks better on a E30 IMHO
If I wanted more of the low pro look, a 16 or 17 inch wheel would have been a better solution to the problem than running a shorter tire.Comment

Thanks!
I agree with the drop, but that is where my H&R sport's put me, and I really like the ride quality (total street car) versus the race springs.
I think I am going to get those IE front camber plates, that will make the front look more dropped than it is.
I wish there was an easy solution to rear camber. I am not sure I want to start getting things welded, and the bushings seem noisy (PITA on a cabby, don't want to hear squeeking with the top down) and expensive. I could use a bit more in the rear.Comment

In a sense, but not really. It will increase the drop but leave compression travel untouched. Ride quality will decrease as well since you're replacing a rubber mount with a metal bearing.
I'll be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about the wheels after seeing those pics. I liked the previous pics but with the balloon tires on those wheels (that are only 225/50) I feel it really takes something away.
Then again, looking back on the pictures they've grown on me a lot. I still think it would look a lot better with less sidewall though, and the vert still resembles a monster truck. ;)paint sucksComment
