Erick, will you ever make it up to the northeast sometime or are there not enough events up here to make it worth the trip? I'd love a drift lesson now that I have a lot more horsepower, even if I never go to an event I think the car control is invaluable.

If you ever plan on attending an event... give me 1-2 months notice, and I'll try to plan a trip up there.

Transporting my car would cost too much money and honestly would not be worth it over all, but I am always down to fly up there and see the different communities. I was pretty stoked to see the CA crowd a few weeks ago.

          Hey guys... New question!

3.73 LSD or 3.73 Welded for drifting? I just picked up a 373 LSD to replace my 410 welded, but I don't know if I should run just the stock LSD or have it welded? I think I am going to do an M50 swap soon, and then from there go to an M52 in the future.
I got a fender roller now! LMK if you need me to roll your fenders or want to rent the tool from me locally.

            drifting = welded

you want to have fun with your car, do some auto-X's maybe some road racing, leave the LSD...you can actually replace the clutch packs in it with (bmw is it?) for around $60 and its like shimming the diff...i'll be doing that to my upcoming 2.93.

unless you wanna pay for my parts, house, and school its going to keep going @ whatever pace i can afford/ have time for. Unfortunalty i cannot upgrade my car as fast i used to seeing as i have a certain level of life that i would like to maintain.

AS for your diff question. Welded diffs drive like crap all around. They put unwanted extra strain on your car and could break. There is no need for your wheels to be always locked, and it would suck driving that daily. Either pick up a kazz 1.5 way for like 1k or buy the upgraded packs from bimmerworld. You can check out diffsonline also.

In the end if you need to do it on the cheap i guess go welded.

If you have some expiriance with diffs then do the packs.

If you wanna be a baller get a kazz or a diffsonline diff.

              Up to you though.

It can be done. They got pretty good torque. Suspension will help it wonders though.

                  Thanks,

Eh youre welding a 3.73 LSD? Plus I had a 3.73 lsd for sale.

Welded diffs == understeer. IMO its not a very good learning tool.

Also, to answer your question from a few pages back M30 == 6 cyl.

                            Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

Nah, Welded diff == initial understeer. I HATE the feeling of welded diffs.
