    Who's drifting their stock M20?

Alright, like the posts says. Who is drifting their stock M20?

Does it have enough power for a stock M20? When I say stock m20, i'm talking like no turbos and such. I am learning to drift my e30 and i'm going to use n2o to help it with a few bolt ons.

    Anybody?

There's a video of a stock M20 powered car drifting at a parking lot event. I don't recall his name. He seemed to do pretty well, I think you should be able to get sideways easily with bolt-ons. If 4A-GE powered AE86 guys can do it, so can you.

The real question is how long a 20-year-old M20 will survive when bouncing off its rev limiter for 30 minutes at a time. Better keep a few (dozen) rocker arms handy...

The stock M20 has more than plenty of power. I had a stock M20 for two years before I went boost.

I drove Luis Riera's (etxxz) former e30 when it was a stock M20, with coilovers + 4.10lsd, I was convinced that for a fun-basis, you do not even need any extra power. I personally suggest the 3.73lsd though as we both agreed the 4.10lsd was too short for drifting.

just replace them with new - they hold up just fine.

Erick, I will have to try a 3.73 LSD in and see how it does. My highway driving sucks, so I will have to see how it goes. Now I have to find it first.

LOL, this is my kind of thread

I drift my e30 M20 powered engine and it has enough power for what you need it to do; you just need skills, lol

i have close to 400k miles (daily miles and racing miles) on my m20 and i still drift it like it had 100k miles on it. my buddy has an m20 that he DD and it's got 600k+ original miles on it; m20s lasts a looooooooooong time if you take care of them which is exactly what i did. i've got a 3.73 and it's perfect, imo
i'm drifting again in 3 weeks; if you were in socal, i'd invite you and have you ride in my e30, so you can experience the thrill of how to catch a drift with an m20 engine, but Erick can teach you that better than i can... GL with your project car, keep me posted and take photos as well as videos, so you can watch yourself and improve

ps. before you drift, make sure you have done these changes:
                    - timing belt
                    - water pump
                    - cam seal
                    - major tune-up
                    - check brakes
                    - check clutch fluid (flush it if you want)
                    - check radiator hoses
                    - check motor mounts (replace them with IE urethane and you'll save a whole lot of headaches later on)

Oh and PS: Rocker arms can take power, they cant take revs past the factory revlimiter though.

Ive always wondered if a hotter cam and stiffer valve springs ever shorten the life of the rockers.

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

Welp, I found a 3.73 LSD which I think is stock, for $150. Should I get it?

I have done a drift event, its just I wasn't sure if it was enough. But at the same time, I was running my gears out quick. I was mainly in 2nd gear.

you can drift a stock m20 pretty easially I'd check all the usual stuff before an event, tighten up the e-brake and go have fun. If. You have shorter gears like me it is a bit harder but if your LSD is in good condition you'll be fine.

I drift a tired 140k 4ag with intake and exhaust with 4.778 rear end gears on a TRD 2way. You should be fine just go out and have fun.
