I have never driven an e30 with a welded diff, but from my experience with 240s and welded diffs, they do promote oversteer on entry and mid-drift, as Luis (etxxz) mentioned.

You guys are inspirational, keep up the good work!

Erick what happened to your motor? Can I help you with another one? PM me if you have a chance.

Snapped belt and cracked off pieces of the head which hold the rocker shaft in place on the intake valves for #5. My PM box is full right now lol... I gotta clear that up.

what happened to the other one you were getting welded? I might want my open diff. I have to swap the face plate on it with my 373lsd. So if you want one with a busted mount on the face plate, ok I guess.

            Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

Well I could always take the face plate off my 373 and we could swap it then.

Lee said he couldn't weld it. Lemme know quick son!

Thats kind of a dumb statement. You're taking a car that is an amazing stock drift platform and saying if it can drift then of course other cars can? Doesn't make sense. The 4ag/4age is super high revving, sturdy, great weight distribution and only weighs 2000lbs in stock form. Here's a quick summary for you: click here I would love to have one of these classic cars that was only produced for a few years.

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

A Corolla is an amazing stock drift platform?

Based on what? Have you driven a stock Corolla? The whole point to them is because they are so DIFFICULT to slide, which makes them so much fun. But competitive? Hardly. Only a handful of people can make the AE86 truly competitive with a N/A 4AGE, and even still, you only see them have an advantage in certain specific tracks.

Trust me, I loved sliding my buddy's AE86 on a stock 4AGE and coilovers. It's great fun, but it's not competitive fun.

I don't want to start a fight here but last time I weighed my GUTTED AE86 hatch it weighed in at 2150ish (and I mean gutted). I also work at a shop with a dyno dynamics dyno and my rebuilt bluetop with intake and exhaust mods puts down about 115hp and a whole whopping 100ft/lb of torque. A good running blacktop swap only put down 136 hp. The AE86 is not by any means a great drift car, id say its a fun challenging car.

The e30 is a great platform to slide with you just want an LSD, cruddy tires for the back, decent shocks and springs and track time.
My name is Kendall feel free to use it.

Only problem drifting a stock M20 is everyone tells you to get some exhaust.

Uhh i Slide mine in 4th.
                              Stock m20b27
                              4.10 welded diff
                              "cold air"
                              2.5in straight pipe no cat
10k spings and billy sports all around
Haul the mall in 3rd to limiter, shift ebrake and clitch kick
she will ride out for a while but as soon as you let off she dies off. But i was entering faster then sr 240's. I do most of the track in 3rd tho. Lets me play with the throttle more. M20b27's are way under rated in my opinion. For autox and drag b27's may not be the quickest but it handles its own sliding. Im adding software and see if i can squeze out more from 4th.....Just saying it can be done.

Nitrous has its place, and that is the drag strip. Anyone who talks about nitrous for anything but a drag application is generally regarded by most of the automotive and E30 community as a moron.

As far as actually drifting an M20, get yourself a 3.73LSD and suspension, then get professional instruction or at least someone who knows E30 drifting to ride with you in a big empty parking lot to teach you to slide it.

As far as drifting in 4th... I doubt that, but whatever makes you smile when you write your tall tales for a couple dozen guys who know you're entirely full of shit. PS - if it has to be raining and on bald tires when you do the 4th gear drifts, maybe next time include THAT bit of deep imagery in your long winded "how srzbznz i dr1ftz" speech. We aren't going to assume you did a 4th gear drift across the arctic tundra in some massive ice race whenever you spend 5 minutes typing up a detailed visual of you drifting in 4th gear.

As far as the "it's obvious how many of you know the difference between a drift and a power over by this thread; not many comment" that was made... it's obvious you're an idiot being as a power over is a form of drifting, and this is a conversation about drifting stock M20's, which aren't exactly renowned for doing 100mph dynamic drifts. Also the guy is obviously new to drifting so to recommend much more than power over would be pretty stupid on your part. Nevermind the fact that almost all videos and pictures posted were E30 M20's in full counter steer, flying sideways. Last I checked... we call that drifting.
