Almost all of the camber plates that will work with stock style strut/spring assemblies have this same problem. The bilsteins have a very short threaded shaft. My GC plates are close to the same, although I think I have a turn or two more into the nylon portion of the locknut. Its been ablsolutely fine for two years of track only use.

The binding is most likely from the bearing loosening up. If it doesn't get any better be sure to check your washer assembly order.

Cool, thanks for the info. These assemblies don't seem to require washers. The bearing is machined too big for the Bilstein to fit multiple applications, so the spacer that is used to center it, is built extra long so that it spaces the bearing outer race away form the spring hat. Kinda nice, actually.

        Hey Guys,

We're glad to hear people are liking the Ruff adjustable mount kits! The thread problem has come to our attention lately and we'd like to address the issue to the E30 community.

When we received the Ruff camber plates in early May, we did a test fitment on my E30. As it turned out, the upper nut/bearing cap(similiar to Vorshlag's pictured ealier) was too large. We decided, as a temporary fix, to machine off the nut section of the nut/cap, and allow the customer to retain their original nut. We tried this on my E30, and it worked perfectly. As it turns out, a Bilstein Sport Strut's threads stop about a quarter of an inch before the top, allowing for a "male allen head". My strut's (H&R coilovers) threads went all the way to the top, so I had complete thread penetration, and all was good. So, we pretty much goofed. We should have installed them on a Bilstein Sport and Koni before making them available to the community and we apologize for that. We have contacted Ruff about the situation, and they are changing the nut/cap. We will be sending the correct nut/cap to all customers that bought the first kits. The Ruff E30 Adjustable plates are currently on preorder status until the correct nuts arrive. These mounts are some of the best we have seen, especially at this price point. We can't wait to get them back on the market! (For legal reasons: We suggest you not operate your E30 with less than full thread penetration on the strut nuts till the correct nuts are installed)

As for a comment earlier in the thread,

RUFF PRODUCTS ARE MADE IN TAIWAN.

We don't like to hide that kind of info to customers. There's no reason to. If a product is great then it's great! This is the first time we have dealt with a Taiwanese company, and we are nothing but impressed with the quality and value of their products. Even we were a little hesitant before we got a chance to see some samples of their products in late '07. Since then, we have had Ruff's full support! We are lucky enough to be Ruff's east coast distributor, and are looking foward to a great relationship with them, and selling their products in the future!

Just search "Ruff" on our online store at www.CarrIndustries.com. If you have any questions about the products, automotive advice, or would like to know how's the weather in North Carolina, feel free to call us at 1.336.931.0007 Mon-Fri 8:30-5:30 EST. (If you need advice on women, don't call us... we're clueless)

        Thanks Guys(& gals)!

Ok I installed these today it took me around an hour working slowly but it went together very easy. I did use some lock tight on the nut since it wasn't going through the nylon but besides that every thing went fine. I will be taking the car to the alignment shop next Wednesday and I am looking for 3-3.5 negative camber does that sound good?

Apparently the correct nuts are on their way, I haven't received mine yet, though. I did however do a 5 hour test n tune, an autox, and 2 hours of Pocono track time with the stock nuts, with no locktight. They never came loose or caused problems.

The only time load is being put on the threads is when the suspension is at full droop, and with stock swaybars I'm not lifting tires, so I don't see it as an issue. But I will install the correct part when I receive it.

You are correct! The correct nuts have been machined and are on there way to us! These nuts incorporated the fitment of the upper seal for dust free operation.

Everyone that has ordered a set will receive them, and they will be included in all our new inventoried sets.

Thanks for your pateince on these!

                    Hey Brian,

When can those of us who ordered the Ruff camber plates from you expect to receive the correct nuts?

Hey guys, It's definitely has been a while. We have been working with Ruff to correct the nut size issue. Long story short, we still haven't receive the correct size nuts. I just received a shipment today of the corrected nuts, and they are about .5 mm off. Talk about blowing the wind out of our sails!

It's unfortunate considering the quality of the plates, and we're a bit embarraassed by the circumstances. All customers that have bought the plates will get a full refund and 10% their next order for the hassle.

Everyone who has purchased these have had great patience and we really appreciate it!

                        I'll be contacting ya'll tomorrow,

Man that is unfortunate, since the plates are great quality.

I'm still running the plates as-is.... I think I'm on 5 track days and probably 6 autox's, no issues at all. I'm very happy with the quality of the plates, so there is no argument from my end. Obviously I want the correct nut for it, but it's no big deal in the mean time.

                              Thanks for the update.

Same here I have two track days on the plates with no problem. I am running lock-tight on the nuts just as extra reinsurance.
