Almost all of the camber plates that will work with stock style strut/spring assemblies have this same problem. The bilsteins have a very short threaded shaft. My GC plates are close to the same, although I think I have a turn or two more into the nylon portion of the locknut. Its been ablsolutely fine for two years of track only use.
The binding is most likely from the bearing loosening up. If it doesn't get any better be sure to check your washer assembly order.
