      One of my best cost effective weight reduction mods was I lightening the driver 50lbs. Very cheap to do.

        Why would anyone be concerned with the weight of spare and jack? Who runs autocross or track with a spare and a jack?

          I say ditch the A/C if you don't use it. I consider it from time to time, but my car is fairly unmolested so I'm hesitant to go that far. sometimes it is nice to have, extra weight be damned.
          The thought of that balance makes me wonder if its even worth taking the spare out of the trunk for autocross runs.

            well, I took my spare tire and rear seat out during my last autocross, and it was my worst day of the whole season. :P

              I believe that someone said weight loss is more important than balance.

                    overall lightness is more desirable than a good distribution of weight, so we never add weight to achieve a good distribution;

                      Last time I checked an E30 rear seat didn't weigh 26 lbs.

                      Or at least it didn't feel like it.

                        the top and bottom supposedly weighs ~30lbs, sure doesnt feel like it....

                        As for the balance thing, think about the benefits the 'perfect balance' gives you, versus losing weight.

                          Wow... but what material is that covered in... it would make sense a leather covered seat would be heavier.
