Like the title says, what sources are out there for roll cage kits and bolt ins for e30s?

If you want a safe roll cage, it must be custom built. Bolt-ons usually don't access the strong rockers, and rely on the floorpan, which is certainly not the strongest part of the car as they will punch thru the thin sheetmetal...

Kirk, Autopower, etc. I would suggest Google, you may find a fabricator local to you.

I know the titles says "Roll cage", but if you guys are looking for a (bolt-on) Roll bar, then there's also VSR's roll bar.

Whatever the brand, make sure it is made from DOM, not ERW tubing.

              Kirk has a Weld-in kit.

It is very complete and a pretty good deal at $780 with crossed door bars.

              Fishmouth and weld it yourself.

Just having finished my own rollcage ($1500 in material - including 3 bottles of gaz for the TIG) and 100 hours (2 guys x 50hrs), the $780 price for a Kirk cage is a bargain. Don't forget you still need to adapt it to your own tastes.

Like Lee said there really are no good bolt in cages available... Can opener effect on the floor.

I've wanted to build an e30 bolt in cage that worked right for quite a while now... But just can't get it together.

It is probably best just to find a reputable fabricator to just build one in.

Actually, a good business would be to sell a weld in cage... in kit. Let me explain. The most dificult part in building a cage is the actual esign and the prototype. In fact, most xages are one-off prototypes. It is a very time consuming process.

So, if somebody comes up with a great design, with every single piece already cut up and notched, and only needing to be welded together, then it would be a bargain for the consumer.

We should do it Lee... I've already sussed out a lot of it.

I just can't get anyone interested in fabrication because of the "e30 low end market".

Creating the perfect main hoop can take up to a whole day, and use several lengths of tubing. Duplicating it takes about 15 minutes per hoop. But don't forget that a quality bender costs about $3,500, plus $750 for a quality notcher. You must sell a few rollbars before money starts pouring in...

Not to mention building fixtures to make plates etc...

then sent to taiwan and and bent to spec, sent back for roll cages on the dollar.

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.
