Another point: I guarantee there are people here as well that know their shit who may not necessarily grace E30tech with their knowledge, and have exclusive knowledge/experience that the people on E30tech can benefit from.
If you pay, which I didn't to join but did to support the Josh Q fund, it is only once unless you choose to support the forum financially through a Premium membership.

...and Edwin, Jason (dk) was not listed in my post and I know he is on here, Mitch (lifeiskaos), I realize is on here but not the Mitch I speak of either. I'm talking about Mitch from Mode in AZ(he said he was banned on here, maybe I'm wrong as I know he goes to Bimmerfest as well). Splitting hairs here so I'm going to bail on this topic as nothing is accomplished.

I enjoy both forums for different reasons.

My issues with E30Tech are pretty simple.

      1) Tons of advertising, its all over the place. This forum is sponsored by....?! Really? just too much
      2) Lack of automation for registrations... manual activation? If getting paid for ads is automated so are the registrations. Any registration that gets stuck on here gets activated after 2 weeks at the most.
      3) Complete lack of owner involvement, like 100%, nothing, nada. I'm sorry but if you have users PAYING to utilize your resources you better show your face from time to time. Keeping people in limbo for months if not years is not acceptable
      4) Forcing people to pay if they want to instantly post. Yes I agree with the Josh Q fund.. why is it linked to allowing people to post? If people want to donate they can out of the goodness of their hearts... ie our RobertK fund back in the day when he was diagnosed with Cancer. We pooled together and sent him some money

I don't claim to be the best website owner in the world.. I miss lots of things, I don't respond to everything in a timely manner.. but I really try to post on the site when I have a moment, respond to PM's when I can (I get TONS Of them a day, its not even funny how many I get.. + emails) and try to show my support anyway I can.

This is why we sponsor the E30Picnic, its why we throw an annual party, and its why we proudly display R3VLimited on the side of two E30 Racecars. We are a community, and a community can die without its so called leader....or in my case the guy who keeps the lights on.

The mitch you speak of is indeed here, although he rarely posts. His screen name is Deagal IIRC. He is not baned, but was a while ago.

...and this is why we need to annex E30tech. It would be a service to the national (and international) E30 community, and I would be willing to bet a lot of people will be willing to chip in a little, including me, and I am a tight-ass.

Normally I don't give the RevTech Soap Opera a second thought because it doesn't deserve it. But because the Josh Q fund has crept into this episode I can't help to put in my two cents.
As a disclaimer I have nothing to do with the Josh Q fund or e30Tech, other than contributing to it and being able to see how it's blessed Joshua's boy's over the years, it's told them a lot about "the BMW Guy's".

I could be wrong, but I believe it started just after the Tech was inundated with spam. By having to make a small contribution not only eliminated next to all spam but also individuals that had been banned from making account after account. I believe Chris didn't like the idea of making money off charging people for opening an account so he's been contributing it towards the Josh Q fund. Right or wrong, good or bad...it worked.

Being a forum owner or administrator is a completely thankless job that deserves a lot more respect. I know if I was the owner of either the Tech or Rev I'd sell it to the highest bidder in a heart beat.

Both Chris(Tech) & James(REV) and the entire e30 community and beyond have been so amazingly generous in both thought and deed, it's just beyond my ability to comprehend. Both the Josh Q fund and the Robert K fund prove this fact.

I've had the honor of shaking the hand of James and I really hope to shake Chris' hand some day. There's no doubt in my mind that they are both very great upright young men! Thank you both.

Joshua was an active member since the start of E30Tech and died on Nov 4th 2004 at age 22, 4 months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was married with two baby boys and was very open about his illness on the forum, while receiving great support from the e30 community. Chris (owner of e30tech) was encouraged by members to start a collection to provide his boys and their mother with Christmas gifts which turned into the Josh Q Fund. By doing a search here or e30tech for JoshQ or Josh Q you’ll find several posts about it.

^^ that is a very good example of the power of the E30 community. I didn't know anything about this but I hope his kids are doing ok, I has got to be hard to lose a dad for a kid, not to mention the wife...

Not that I want to belittle this to another argument point, but a bigger community would have more power to do something like this.

i've been a mod @ e30tech since 2005, but yeah, i remember you :) these days i've been paying more attention to spanish motorcycles than i have to bmw cars, so i'm not all too active anywhere.

adblock plus is awesome. it makes the whole internet less painful to read... every time i look at e30tech from a browser not running it i think "holy crap i forgot all about this bullshit".

if you search here on r3v, you can find posts from me bitching about this back in... 2007, probably? so, yeah, totally valid.

do you mean "instantly post" after registration, meaning "you pay in for premium membership or wait to become approved"?

if so, yeah, i agree, but the root problem remains that only one person is looking at the registration queue. doug, mitch, the crazy swede and i have all asked for this process to be delegated down to moderators, and have met with silence- like i said, for 5 years now.

                        soo... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

know how i know you're lying? mods can search for duplicate IP addys- just in case you thought you were the first person ever to try that. :)

anyway, i guess the irony surrounding your ban from e30tech is still lost on you-

but since you're still bitching about it here, and you still have a link to the r3v thread from two years ago, i'm gonna let you work out your own cognitive dissonance issues surrounding the concept of "preemptive strike".
